Sooo as with all things car related, you start with a list of things you want to do like an intake, exhaust, HPFP, COBB Accessport, injectors, etc etc. Then you actually get the car register it and then try to safety check it then realize that: a) Mazda doesn't rust proof their stuff b) New England winter salting roads.. yayyy c) Who the F uses sheet metal screws to attach the side skirts? Okay... Vent partially complete: Main purpose of this post was to pick the brains of everyone regarding rocker panels, as mine are 50% gone and need to be replaced before i can pass safety, and "legally" drive on the road in NH. This is what I've been able to gather: 1. New replacement panels are unobtanium... 2. Used Speed 6 rockers don't really seem to exist either. 3. Was able to locate Mazda 6 (non-speed) through car-parts.com and I'm actually awaiting a quote from a wrecker yard in AZ to see if they'll hack and send hopefully for not $$$$$. 3. Ford Fusion SEL rockers are actually available, has anyone compared these with the Speed 6? The Fusions are supposedly build off the same platform right? I'm hoping that someone else has already gone down this road, and can shed some light, pretty please? Thanks, Ian
What are the body differences between a non Speed 6 and the Speed? If the body is structurally the same then why not buy a non Speed and swap everything over?
@L337TurboZ thanks, I’m hoping that is the case! Hoping someone can confirm. (Lots of hoping, LOL) I’m reaching out to the yard in AZ in hopes that the floor pan and rockers are still intact. But that makes sense to try and find a decent 6 here…
Rocker panels are same PN between MS6 and M6 per: https://www.jimellismazdaparts.com/...eed6/Rocker-Panel-Left/1876794/GKYC71271.html But assume need cut out old/weld in new and paint...
IDK about buying from them. IMO that now that can see same PN just buy used M6. Suspect can get for cheap like $100 for both, just maybe you have to remove them as AFAIK this is not a normal thing sold at junk yards idk is there even a listing for rocker panels on car-parts? maybe as this is more common on other cars. Beyond me why you need to replace in NH but yours must be rusted to shit. 50% gone sounds like they are and in that case assume rest of car is shot too so maybe not worth it.. But if going to do it maybe reach out to Justin/Freektune for recommendation on welder/shop that can help get the old ones cut out / new ones installed. IDK. Good luck.
