DaMN raider very nice... do you prefer the Cai over sri on the cx7? [doublepost=1465488924][/doublepost]I want to do my headlights like that but was worried about messing up the beam
They offer the same power. The CAI is more at risk of hydrolocking, but you have to really be DEEP in a CX-7 to do so. I would do SRI, but we were the first CX-7 to actually have that CAI, and my wife did the install for that, and the TMIC (I documented). Get those, and then save pennies for a VersaTuner and get an eTune to really nail down the power. FYI @CorkSport - Derrick might have a set of the now discontinued of RMM inserts for CX-7 for like $40 or so. I would snag those up.
Yup If you want to DIY, bake em in the oven for 10 minutes at 200 degrees. Then pull apart after prying up on the tabs. If no dice, another 5, try again. Once apart, set clear lense upright, and don't touch the insides of it. Scrub the chrome part up with a 3m scruff pad, prime, paint. Once dry, bake lense and light for 10 minutes at 200, and press the lense back on, ensure all tabs are in place. Feel free to add some RTV around the seam and let dry, reinstall and done.
Getting a pro tune on it now from PD tuning. So far, tune number 9. Runs great. Still loving this car.
I'm looking for a new bad weather daily/winter beater, and am inches from pulling the trigger on a CX-30 lease, but I just stumbled upon a CX-7 with the DISI and around 100k miles for sale near me for around $6500. I'd always heard that there were severe reliability problems with the CX-7s, but for that price, and with my knowledge of the MS3 platform and likely ability to easily work on the thing, it has me thinking. What are the main failure points on these cars?
So VVT just like a GenWon, turbo issues, which isn't typically an MS3 issue, but solvable, and anything else? If I buy one of these to daily with my 4 year old in the back, can one of these (provided that it has been taken care of) cart us around reliably? Gas mpg is not particularly good, but the delta between a $6,500 car and a $22,000 one pays for a fuckton of gas, and repairs for that matter.

Most issues were failed AC pumps, VVT chains, Turbo seals. A lot of that had to do with not doing enough maintenance on them. I have only had the VVT issue at 100,000 miles. 2007
