Yeh. The springs can break from big impacts.

Yeah that was just about done. See those blue marks on the PP/flywheel? yeah it was overheated.

My XR, pretty much the next version of the HTA3076, spools like a 3071. No problem hitting 20 psi by 3400 starting at 3k. I would believe the HTA version of the 35R would spool faster than the GT series (maybe even the GTX series).

    Open Tuning/Turbo Theory Discussion

I just do not agree that's very reasonable on the street, not that it isn't usable. I'm not a fan of having to roll around at 4k to get any response out of my car. All of those values you stated is about what I use as well, I guarantee on a 35R you raise those values to make it actually get up...

    Open Tuning/Turbo Theory Discussion

Look I'm just saying the transient response is garbage, it's completely worthless in a track situation (especially AutoX), and that was my experience with taking logs especially with that large of a turbo that it does matter where you start it; things were different. Just look at @Redline 's...

    Open Tuning/Turbo Theory Discussion

I'm not saying that you go WOT at that low of RPM, I'm saying if you did it at like 3k, you'd see a shift even farther right than what is showed there in terms of when torque comes on. And I think we have a different opinion of what is really usable and transient response time. I'm just...

    Open Tuning/Turbo Theory Discussion

I disagree. As a previous 35R running hooligan, it is, in fact, the WORST turbo for street use. Look at where that log starts....at 2300 or something stupid. The effective time to spool that turbo and get you the usable 300wtq or so is enormous compared to other, smaller turbos. You can do...

    PSA: Low Compression Fix Adventure

If the oil return holes were truly clogged....wouldn't it burn oil? This vehicle burns negligible oil. Also, you own a Gen2, so you do not understand the heartache that is low compression in all of the Gen1's :'( we need everything we can get!

    PSA: Low Compression Fix Adventure

Exactly right. The gen2 pistons are significantly better in all of those regards.

    PSA: Low Compression Fix Adventure

This all depends how the vehicle is driven; city cycle will create more than highway cycle driving. This DI....not necessarily the best case for "clean burning" because of the poor piston design. It is not quite as efficient as it should be.

Dude. Do this and post results. I'd put money on it that it'd be more uniform afterwords.

    PSA: Low Compression Fix Adventure

Yeah the thing here is I guess it can actually seize the rings....since #2 and 3 are always running the hottest (not sure if this is right @phate i'm sure could fill us in), I think it has a higher likely hood of carbon build up on the rings. #1+4 seem to build it up on top due to being the...

    PSA: Low Compression Fix Adventure

I should have done a leak down....but I didn't. *shrugs* It runs great so I'm not going to really put any more effort in than I have to.

    PSA: Low Compression Fix Adventure

I've been on this platform for ~5 years now and I've never heard of anyone trying this...here's my story. I am purchasing an 06' MS6 w/ 61k on the clock. We tested the compression and it came out the following: Cyl1: 190 Cyl2: 180 Cyl3: 155 (went up to 170 with a cap of oil) Cyl4: 190...

    Curious intermittent vibes

I got this on my 2nd gen pretty much stock with bolt ons and motor mounts. I ended up contributing it to the dual mass flywheel osscilating on engine decels knowing what I know now in my current job. My half shaft ended up not being the cause of my problems. @Maisonvi; my problem was the...

Lets be honest here...this is the real important question....did anyone remember to bring supplies for polish horseshoes?! (a frisbee and 2 ski poles). If not I'm going to have to source those because this is damn important. @Maisonvi; you have any old ski equipment?
