Replaced battery last Tuesday and issue has not happened since. Probably was the issue because I discovered that the old battery was from December of 2017. Can mark this as solved now with the cause being battery on its way out.

At least five years old, I haven’t changed the battery since I got it because I never had any issues with starting or running until now. Could just be time for a new one

Ah, copy that. Makes sense. If the EX-2 is truly the same as the old non-LSD-additive 75w-90, then in theory that would be the one to run in an ms3 and the one that is currently in my gearbox. I am still wary/doubtful that it is the case though as the Tribodyn website does have that huge bold...

You say EX-2 for the gearbox but EX-1 for the diff, but in transaxles like ours, the gear oil is also the diff fluid. I used to run the old no-LSD additive fluid from Sho's old link, (apparently the same as Tri-EX 2, but I don't remember anything about ceramic additive being in that old fluid...

Thanks man, I really appreciate all the help you've given me with this issue! Guess it's time to get a little casserole dish for the oil and a new filter. I'll be sure to wipe down the motor-side seal ring with a shop towel to clear away any debris that might have been obstructing the filter seal.

My thought though is that if I can hit the power numbers I want with a stock size intake, my craving for rare and vintage Mazda parts is insatiable. Especially because the other option I wanted (HTP 3” single piece) has not been available for a number of years now
