On another note seems my tuners workin overtime. I just went out to log the map that resulted in my 10 map / 10 log run from yesterday and I will say today’s map was by far the strongest/fastest feeling. Really solid meat between 4000-6500rpm.

I just got two new maps now. One is limited at 6500. He says if lambda looks good, the second map goes to 8500rpm. Now we’re talking. Can’t wait to log those maps tomorrow

Just finished my 8500rpm logs. This things gotta be making peak torque around 8k and just on a mission till 8500. It feels incredible and just screams its way through the rpm’s.

The best part is on the shift now, every shift is directly in the middle of the power band so the pull just keeps on keepin on. It’s really something.

currently vtec is set low at 4500 so the mid range kinda sucks. Just part of the tuning process. Once everything’s combined together I can only imagine. It’ll be potent on track. Corner exit should be far better than last season even with peak torque being 2500rpm higher.

tomorrows map is set for 9200rpm. I cannot wait for that.

If you have flat torque, it will feel like it pulls harder and harder as the RPM creeps up. I'm betting that's probably what's actually happening here.

Based on the logs, peak torques actually around 8000rpm. Unreal.

    torque is incredibly flat

It's an advantage on road courses for...Less practiced drivers. The engine will put out predictable torque no matter what, which will help boost your confidence in the seat and give you one less thing to worry about.

You'll understand what I mean when you drive it a few times on the track.

Funny story, I once made a flat torque map for my MS3 (EFR 6758 at the time) and took another MS6 owner for a ride in it. He had me pop the hood and just stared at it saying "That's not a K series" or something similar over and over.

I can believe it. The flat torque of the k series is unique I think.
I haven’t felt another NA engine like it. Even turbo. More torque more power absolutely. I won’t pretend this is the fastest thing I’ve driven/owned but the flat torque and forever pull is unique. It feels amazing.

I can already tell how beneficial this will be on track. It’s a race camshaft. A true race camshaft. An engine built to match as best as I could afford. It feels like it. It’s noticeable.

Header is my rpm limiter currently. We know it’ll peak out before we run out of mechanical rpm’s. Over winter I’ll hopefully be able to address that by building custom to suit my needs/camshaft.

can’t wait to get out on track

What a rush. Not gonna lie, it’s absolutely terrifying up there but it sounds amazing and it feels fantastic. Hard to open it up in town though only got 2 good clean logs

got some pretty good feedback from my tuner regarding how things are going.

He says we have significantly more knock headroom vs last years setup. I asked how could that be considering compression has been raised.

Massive duration camshafts rob you of dynamic compression which allows for more knock headroom, more timing can be thrown into the mix. Apparently we have more torque to add in in the form of ignition timing.

Currently still dialing in VTC curves and fueling. Then we'll add power.

May 20th is my first track day and we should be mostly dialed in before that.

did 8 logs yesterday over 4 maps, have 4 new maps tonight to do 8 more logs with. the hustle is real but im trying to make it to the track with not a ton of time here

Massive duration camshafts only rob you of dynamic compression based on valve overlap. Less overlap = potentially more dynamic compression. Valve event angles matter here too, though.

Cams are a bit of a dark art, much like turbo hotside sizing.

My tuner is also a camshaft reader. Lucky me. This engine is by his design after all. From intake to header. Really an expert I’d say. I’ve learned a lot from him.

We have shitloads of overlap here. There’s a reason the car sucks below 4000rpm and it’s not the tune lol. This was expected though and no one’s surprised. As my tuner said “there’s nothing left to chance here, everything so far has been calculated and is as expected”. Most engineer minded dude I’ve ever known and it shows.

By this weekend he says we should have some shape of final form. Final will be dialed in based on track logs. Also some work left to do for cruising as below 4000 the combustion is extremely shit.

I will say this vtc stuff is crazy. I logged 30*, 40*, and 50* yesterday. 3 maps. You wouldn’t believe it was the same car. More vtc more better and it’s noticeable even on my shitty uphill logging spot

It's also an NA engine designed for high revving. Of course it's gonna be ass with shitty vacuum at idle and no holeshot whatsoever.

You got that right. I expected it but having never experienced this before it’s something new. The no vacuum at idle is interesting

New muffler went on today. It made a world of difference in helping to quiet down the car. It’s still loud at idle but at least I can have the car running in the driveway now without vibrating the entire house :tearsofjoy: won’t be pissing off the neighbors anymore either.

Cars much better cruising too. What a difference. New muffler is actually a true 3” straight through as well vs my old muffler which necked down to what looked like 2.5-2.75” inside. Old muffler also wasn’t straight through.

My buddy came by to do the install. He got this new little tig welder and it’s pretty cool. Works great.

Idle clip. Still loud, but much better lol. Videos never do it a justice.

    2024 front end setup. RPF1’s.
    17x10

this should give some much improved front end. Also allows my alignment to work better

The 255 on the 10 wide really is great fitment. Excited to drive this setup

Track day next Monday. I’ll definitely have a video or two from then. This thing sounds fantastic and the new front end feels incredible. Infinite turn in and infinite grip. It’s just mega.

For some reason posting pictures seems to be a nightmare now. New iPhone takes fancier pictures I guess and goood ol MSO doesn’t seem to like them. Bummer
