I honestly wish I had more time to race. The work life/Race life/Family life balance gets really strained.

This year I am screwing that all up and signed up to be a crew chief on a Pirelli World Challenge TC team which has 2 Mx5s and 2 B-Spec Mazda 2s.

The highlights of COTA was having a nice calm discussion with VP fuel and watching their guy get pissed when I told him we had pre-paid one 30 gallon barrel of the VP 101 ($310 of you are wondering) and he wanted to charge for it again.

We also have both our cars on the podium in TCB which was great.

In all seriousness what kind of mileage does a mazda 2 get on the track? I have to imagine you are wot for like 90% of the lap so it would be lower than expected.

It is pretty shocking really. When you are tooling around Daytona in a B-Spec car you have plenty of time to look around and take in the sights, gauges, nuts scratching, etc. The big "DAYTONA" as you drive past looks cool close up.

Lifting a wheel while cornering at 80mph, while scratching your nuts is a manly feeling.

Road courses are slow compared to AX. No time for nut scratching there.

Those are great reasons to be racing. I'll add that there's nothing like it in the world. It's the most peaceful chaos and I can't get enough.
