Huh, I didn't even consider putting it on the other way, hopefully I won't have to do this job again for a while but if I do that might be the way to go.

Personally, I would take the extra time to remove the mount, not necessarily for removal of the pivot but for reinstalling the pivot because getting the cover back on with wet liquid gasket on it is already kind of tricky without trying to maneuver around an obstacle like that mount.
