Ahh, I looked too quick. Got distracted by the GTR and rig. The tube/fin cooler looked like stock at a glance.
Anything over stock size helps. I guess that one is sufficient?
You still have the stock PS cooler?? I couldn't get through 2 track days without blowing a PS pump.
That's a pretty cool rig he's got. conekiller pulls it off with jack stands, but we don't have those fancy corner jacks.
My experience is with the 6. I would get various amounts of whine at times under high load, and lose some assist. Reservoir was kept full, but problem persisted. Ended up taking the pump apart and rebuilding with new seals, never had an issue again.
Also recommend a PS cooler. One track...
Fair point. I'm sure geoff and funk would participate. Maybe we can even get some rubber and exhaust dirt on Stark.
We all know how you swing.
Come to MWNM and participate in whatever events are there? Get driving your car figured out and pick a track day at ACC, Gingerman, or BHF?
Using a child as an excuse. tsk tsk. I would 100% be up for ""Everyone sign up for this day at Gingerman. Use Harry's lap timer in your glovebox." Really hoping Kyle and Johanna can make magic happen in STL to pull a bigger crowd.
And how do you figure you automatically get the IL grown, IL...
MI is too busy spit-shining cars, and AL is too busy trying to figure out how to keep daily drivers running. Ain't nobody got time to fight over a skinny kid with a look-fast-go-slow evo.
But I will whoop on @nindoja; later this year, even if travel is required.
(I'm hoping using all the...
Remind me next time you're by, I'll pull it up for you. (speaking of which, tonight?)
Deto vs knock = cause vs effect. Detonation is the kaboom, knock is the reaction from your block/piston/rings/bearings/window maker. When we have hardcore discussions, we actually do differentiate between...
Read the paper, then remembered Lex has already covered this. I agree with most of what Lex is saying.
http://www.stratifiedauto.com/blog/low-speed-pre-ignition-in-the-mazdaspeed-disi-and-ford-ecoboost-motors/
As far as why it's prevented by tuning...well, I don't know that tuning prevents it...
It's all pre-ignition. Pre-ignition simply means that it is igniting before spark is making it ignite. Look at the graph you posted, it's pre-igniting.
Conekiller is asking for a citation, not the whole paper.
Remember me saying "rate of pressure rise"?
BTW, early ignition timing isn't the cause of this. That "ECU is advancing timing until it sees knock" story, from my experiences, is likely wrong. This is pre-ignition, likely caused by shit injectors, seals, shit on pistons, carbon land above...
I get your point now, and agree. You're still at the mercy of the properties of the base material.
I detest the damn things. Use a keyed insert wherever possible.
I agree with you in practice, but not in principle. Helicoils are rarely fully engaged inside and out. The uneven loading usually fucks all the math up. However, increasing the shear area of a thread does make it stronger. There's literally an equation to calculate how much more strength you...
