    Al3xRats AutoX Thread

Been following your YouTube channel for a bit and didn't realize you were on here. Keep up the good work, I enjoy the videos! Question for you though, what FMIC are you using and what are your BATs like during events? I've only done two events in my speed 3 so far, but my BATs with my CS...

    Should I replace my PRV?

Couple things. 1. Did you break the spill valve down and clean/lube it when you replaced the o-rings? 2. Have you done the PRV test where you get the motor nice and warmed up and then shut the car off but leave the key on to see if the pressure climbs up to ~1850 and then drops? 3. How many...

    street car gone road race

Well I'll be damned. Definitely not what I would have guessed, but I'm glad it was still something relatively simple! Happy to hear it's back up and running.

    street car gone road race

Man, I totally understand the frustration. This is the same type of shit that happens to me on a seemingly regular basis lol. Let's take a step back for a second though. It had oil pressure just before, and was running great it sounds like. Then you changed the oil, now we have two separate...

    She blew up on track…

Probably should have worded that differently, but the consensus seems to be that the 2.5 timing chain is stronger. But to use the 2.5 chain, you have to use all of the 2.5 timing components, like the cam gears and crank sprocket. There was a picture posted of the 2.3 and 2.5 chain side by side...

    She blew up on track…

I've looked into the 2.5 swap a fair bit now, and here's my takeaways from what I've learned: - If you want it to last on a speed, you should at least consider gapping the rings. The 2.5s don't seem to last much past 5-10k miles under boost when you just swap it straight over. Considering it...

Kraze's "The Reasonable Thing" kind of build

Couple more things done on the speed. The AC hasn't been working since I bought the car. Come to find out, the radiator support damaged the AC condenser and it had a leak, so I had to replace both. Now it still doesn't want to work unless the system is overcharged, and the compressor is...

Kraze's "The Reasonable Thing" kind of build

Oh yeah, as soon as I saw how high the BATs still were going into the 2nd run on the first day, I knew I probably messed up going top mount haha, so a FMIC is definitely on the table, and will most likely happen at some point no matter what now. But knowing that the throttle will start closing...

Kraze's "The Reasonable Thing" kind of build

Haha I did say that it was a torture test :eeek: Surprisingly, before the tune/ECU starts yanking the power, even with the crazy high BATs, there's still more power available than I can use at my current skill level. And also surprisingly, I never had any serious knock either. I maxed at 0.7...

Kraze's "The Reasonable Thing" kind of build

I have successfully torture tested, I mean, autocrossed, the speed. I made a new thread in the autocross section (that section seemed dead so I figured I'd try to breathe some new life into it lol) with the in-car footage, found here...

    Kraze's "Kill All Cones" thread

I finally took my Gen 1 MS3 out for it's first autocross weekend. Pertinent mods are something like this: CST4 CS coilovers CS RSB CS TMIC Tuned by Will at PD on 92 pump 4 year old, kind of worn 255/40/17 RE-71s And probably some other perinent-ish stuff, but I don't feel like typing it all...

Kraze's "The Reasonable Thing" kind of build

Wrapped up a couple things yesterday. Finally installed my CS skid plate. The fact that there was an aftermarket aluminum skid plate was actually a big factor in choosing the speed as my next car lol. Also, I finally got around to wiring up my switch for the SWAS. This is the wire I chose to...

    street car gone road race

Just went back and looked at the pictures, yeah that looks cooked! What's your plan for the spring then? The Autotech internals don't come with a spring do they?

    street car gone road race

Nice! I'd still make sure to clean/lube the spill valve. I did that for mine, and the spill valve internals didn't even seem dirty or gummed up, but cleaning them anyway and lubing/reassembling them seemed to be what did the trick and corrected my fuel pressure issues.

Kraze's "The Reasonable Thing" kind of build

Good to know, thanks for the info! I don't suppose you have caster measurements for either of those? They have a bit of a squeeze going on lol. Some might even say "shawty's thick." But the deal was too good to pass up and the setup worked pretty well for the previous owner. He apparently...

Kraze's "The Reasonable Thing" kind of build

Did a couple things over the weekend. TLDR version: I used these parts, plus some others: To go from this: To this: The keen observer might notice that the studs have also been replaced with some longer ones. That's because I purchased a set of wheels and tires from a local guy that...

Wont start after timing chain, Fuel rail holding 68 PSI

Is there a possibility that the follower in the HPFP that the cam lobe pushes against didn't find it's way back in when you reinstalled everything, or was put in backwards? That would definitely cause a fueling issue.

Wont start after timing chain, Fuel rail holding 68 PSI

Ah, I see. Well you had the HPFP off to do the timing job, might as well give it a good once over to make sure nothing looks noticeably off on it. I can't recall hearing about anyone reinstalling the HPFP incorrectly in a way that would result in your set of circumstances though, but there's a...

Wont start after timing chain, Fuel rail holding 68 PSI

68 psi is the pressure from the in tank pump and is what I would expect to see. The HPFP is driven by the cam. It can't build pressure until it's running. Is there another reason you suspect it's a fuel issue or just the 68 psi reading?

Wont start after timing chain, Fuel rail holding 68 PSI

Check your grounds first, and make sure you didn't miss any connectors when everything went back together. The small ground on top by the HPFP is commonly missed and will cause a no-start.
