No I definitely would just leave it the way it is. If it is pretty thick metal then wrapping it would be good but my first catless dp was cheap and the wrap held in so much heat it cracked everywhere. It really doesn't make that much of a difference to sacrifice the dp life lol

You will have a deeper muffled sounding exhaust from the cat being there. Does the downpipe replace both cats or just the first? If it doesn't replace the second one you would want to replace that as well or put a race pipe in there instead

You're fine, I'm just saying that when the exhaust can't get out it pushes its way back into the engine basically which can cause bad issues obviously. Thy call it "reversion" into the engine.

In extreme cases exhaust back pressure can cause bad enough reversion to be an actual problem. Hopefully this fixes it!
