So has anyone calculated the extra power/speed gained from shedding any particular amount of weight? Well I’m sure someone has but I’m wondering if anyone here can report their own gain.

Did you have that Gen1 block examined before using it? Are you sure there weren’t other issues with it? 1qt every 200 miles is pretty bad :) Just out of curiosity, why didn’t you replace the cracked piston on the Gen2 block and use that?

You should do what makes sense for your situation! I’m not in my 20’s either but I hate paying for car repairs since they can be so expensive. That’s the entire reason I started working on cars :)

This isn’t the ideal solution, but if it were mine I’d just pull the head and replace the one piston and perhaps refresh the rings on all of them. That could be done in a few part time days of work and for relatively cheap. I’ve even got 6 or 7 OEM pistons/rods in decent condition I could give you.

When I rebuilt me engine and used another turbo (remanufactured) there was some light smoke and odor for a little while. Not sure if that helps. I’m assuming it was grease or oil on the turbo.

What’s the model number of the pressure sensor you used? Was it OEM? If you haven’t done it recently, maybe you could run a fuel system cleaner like Techron. I’ve had very good results with it. Worst case your fuel system will be cleaner.

Maybe a silly question, but are you sure it’s going in straight? Perhaps it’s at an up/down angle?

It took a while to find the time but I replaced the spark plugs and cleaned up the ground plate. Issue still remains. On a side note, I was very pleased to see that the old spark plugs (15k+ miles) looked great. I’ll try some fuel system cleaner.

Interesting! Before I rebuilt the engine in mine the highest was maybe 155, with others 140 or lower and cylinder #4 was 0. It actually didn’t run that terribly. Though cylinder #1 did break a rod and vented the block, so… :)
