350 wheel torque should be no problem on those rods. Besides, you don’t need retard torque when you have rpm. People still don’t know that lol edit: I should say you don’t need retard torque when you can carry that torque to any half decent rpm

600whp is probably doable if torque is kept in check. Even turbo k20’s don’t make much torque though lol not compared to the Mazdas anyways

BC offers titanium rods and so does Saenz but yea they’re dumb money and titanium is cycle limited so depending on mileage or hours you gotta time them out and replace. Maybe not a big deal for a race only car I guess. These are BC’s “light weight” rods. They also have a mid weight rod and...

They don’t look like much. Tiny little rods. Still rated at 200hp per hole though. I weighed each rod. They are bang on 388grams each. Impressive consistency. From what I’ve seen on YouTube Manley rods ship with 2+ grams weight difference per rod. The finish quality is really nice here too...

Rods have arrived. That was super quick. Big props to BC. They have earned some serious respect from me. I will definitely promote them to others. They even included a small tub of arp lube for assembly. Don’t nobody include arp lube. Usually you gotta reuse the shit that comes with your head...

BC shipped my rods. They’ll be here tomorrow apparently. That is some good customer service. They quoted me 2 weeks but it’s been like 5 days lol. I’ll have everything to assemble the bottom end now so that’s great

Oh that’s pretty gangster lol. Would 100% be unlimited class. Might be competitive. Maybe. Unlimited is like Porsche GT3 Rs and other super shit as well as full blown turbo race car civics making 800hp+. All on slicks of course

Well it’s alive. Smoking like crazy burning up all the oil and whatnot from the exploded engine. I got the coolant bled. Always a pain on K series but that’s done. It seems to idle OK? Threw a code for knock sensor. Hopefully it’s nothing but that sensor has been coated in crap twice now from...

Lmao. Yea seriously. It’s still plated and insured so street legal. If it starts and idles OK next up will be the backroads for a run through the gears

When I bought the car the engine was beat. 60% leak down in cylinders 2 and 3 but it actually ran great. It made no power but it ran fine and consumed no oil. If this ends up being like that then that’s fine. End of the season I’ll steal the head for my build and good enough. I’m gonna fire...

Numbers 1 - 170psi 2 - 130psi 3 - 120psi 4 - 170psi The engine sat for 4 months but it was covered up apparently. It probably sat outside. It may run. If it does then it’ll just be slow I guess. Or consume a fuckload of oil and smoke. If it’s a piece of shit I guess my season is done. I’ll...

Facebook engine installed. Compression results absolutely worst I’ve ever seen. Might be the end of the car after all. What a pain in my ass.

I would agree for sure. After taking a look at the other bores and seeing the scuff marks on both sides, this definitely suggests piston seizure which is a known concern. The OEM cast pistons run such tight P2W clearances it doesnt take much apparently. Mix in the fatigue/load/duration. I was...

8600rpm is a good bit of engine speed for a failure like this. Much destruction. Plan is to pick up another oem long block. Hopefully Friday/saturday. Get that installed to finish the season while I work on the forged engine on the side. I’ll run last years OEM tune which had 8500rpm rev...

I would say piston failure as well most likely. It makes sense

one thing i will note, the headgasket didnt look OEM. I think this head was removed at some point. Its also a lot cleaner then the shortblock so idk. Headgasket was done at some point in this engines life

temp never passed 95c. I have 10 laps that session, most were slow but when i finally made a few passes i got on it. Temp was still sub 100c(212f). Head gasket looked mint, block deck was mint. The head i didnt look at TOO well yet but it also looked fine
