More photos. Maybe the piston just disintegrated? Just came apart? Or some minor piston seizure. Cylinder 2 is the one which failed

    Building for the road course...again

Pulled the engine apart. Rod bolt theory is out the window. Of course I wouldn’t have such a simple failure. From my knowledge this looks like a hydrolock failure. Piston is gone. Nothing but small pieces left Head gasket looks fine. block deck surface also looks fine. There is significant...

    Building for the road course...again

This would’ve occurred on the exhaust stroke for sure. Nothing to slow the piston but the rod, rod bolts, and wrist pin. We will see. The pistons can also come apart. It’s just fatigue. Shits got higher mileage and I’m sure the previous owners weren’t nice to it. Then I come and raise the...

Ok I broke it good for sure lol. Transmission is OK this time thankfully. I’ll pull this engine apart tomorrow and we’ll see what’s up. I think rod bolt or the rod itself maybe? We’ll see

Well pulled the engine out. Too impatient to wait for assistance so did it myself. I don’t think this is where a valve belongs lol

For the K series there are tons of aftermarket crank options but they’re all still Honda based. Cranks with B series rod journals. All different stroker cranks. im sure a custom crank could be done but for the cost it’s better to just buy the rods. The exchange rate is what really gets me

Heard back from BC. They offered me a stupid deal on a brand new set of rods. Crazy good price so 4 new rods it is. 2 week wait time as they gotta make them but that’s OK. Gives me time to collect funds for machining and buying a cylinder head. Won’t be back up and running for August but mid...

    Building for the road course...again

Well seems my budget rebuild plan is dead. BC couldn’t find a rod heavy enough to match my set. I an SOL. options are either sit the rest of the season out, or grab the cheapest long block off market place and send it. There are some cheap units out there($600-800cad). One for $600 sounds good lol

if i could only fit lol.... there are a few cars im simply not interested in. Miata, BRZ, hyundai N. Theyre all just borning they sound terrible and everyone has one or two of those. Its just not for me. The civics screaming 2liter engine sounds lightyears better than almost anything you can...

I hear ya. They can’t even get a wrist pin right. That’s cost me an engine now as well. Bummer for both of us

    Building for the road course...again

Unfortunately that’s how it goes sometimes. It’s part of the game I’ve learned. R&D isn’t easy or cheap. That’s why these companies don’t do it. We have to

    Building for the road course...again

I mean in my case, Wiseco provided me with a part they guaranteed would do what I needed and it failed. So I’d say it’s still a failure just not mine or yours. It’s Wisecos. I was never aware I’d need more wrist pin for my needs and Wiseco clearly wasn’t aware either. All the other big brands...

    Building for the road course...again

You suffered a Wiseco related failure as well????? Sometimes failures happen due to quality of parts. As an end user it’s difficult to find a company to trust. Specially when every single person on the internet is a fucking liar. “I rev my k20 to 9k allllllll day”. Lmao. No you don’t...

Am I any worse then idiots blowing up their speed3’s doing Mexico pulls? To me that’s embarrassing. Nobody gives a fuck about your highway pull against a GTI. Literally nobody cares yet guys are blowing their shit up for what?

    Building for the road course...again

The car is already competitive. It’s actually overly competitive. Keep in mind my class is 2x the HP and 3x the torque and I’m right there with them. If I move down 10mm in tire size I can run in the appropriate class for a car of my build and in that class it would almost not be fair. With...

This is fair. The risk is there but I still trust BC rods over the cheaper shit out there. I know it’s all China but BC is slightly better China

600-800 on marketplace. Junk yards want 1000-1400. I have a guy maybe 25 minutes up the street from me. He runs a part out business parting out all the desirable Hondas. Civic si, rsx, tsx, blah blah. He’s my personal scrap yard I’ve dealt with him enough that we’re kinda buddies now. He...

    Building for the road course...again

Haha yea that’d be cool. With the truck and trailer now I can tow this thing anywhere. It’s nice. Thinking I’ll have to assemble the short block with the parts I have, then just wait until I can afford a new cylinder head setup. It might be later in the season but better than another oem long...
