    Ebay Transfer Case

I've used only CX-7 transfer cases as replacements. They're cheaper and are mostly a direct bolt-in. I wouldn't bother rebuilding an MS6 case - they're known for porous castings and will probably leak no matter what you do. To use a CX-7 case: 1) The input shaft that just slides out by hand...

    More Suck, Less Starve

Ran into a couple complications. When I put the tank in, it raised the floor of it a bit because of the strap running underneath that area. I was ~.150" too tall at that point so I needed to trim the basket a bit. I turned .050" off of both the bottom and top, but that didn't quite get me...

    More Suck, Less Starve

Progress. This is the final conceptual drawing (hopefully): I've been busy making the new basket. Disregard the rest of this post if you don't care about the fabrication, but I like to make stuff so I'm going to show how I did it (lol). I just started with the pics from my post above...

PRV replaced, fuel pressure still tests low while off

I've had the best luck with reused injectors, sans cleaning. [I did buy all new injectors for this latest build, though.] Honestly, the cleaning has never made a noticeable difference other than showing they're better in the graphs they supply. When my injectors have failed, it's all of a...

    Rear diff whine

I wouldn't worry about a light whine at cruising speeds. Probably just a little bit of wear on the gears making noise - won't hurt anything. When something breaks in the rear diff, it causes some really nasty behavior and can get pretty loud.

PRV replaced, fuel pressure still tests low while off

PRV Injectors I've had both fail. When the PRV fails, you can typically blow through them or hit them with compressed air and they'll leak. Another way to test is to just pop the yellow clip line off of the PRV and look/LISTEN for fuel coming out. When injectors fail, it will have a nasty...

    More Suck, Less Starve

Things are getting...complicated. I can't trust that the hydramats won't allow air through in dynamic situations. They suck air during transient tests by lifting up one side of the tank and sloshing the fuel around when there's low fuel. Transient maneuvers is about 100% of autocross, so that...

    Injector Stud Washer

I've never really cared about them, the stock bolts work just fine - I must have junked the last head with injectors and hardware intact, so I needed some replacements.

    Injector Stud Washer

Yeah, I contacted Majin and he's in Bulgaria, so none available. I did price it out from McMaster and it's approaching kit cost, anyway...so I ordered from CW Turbochargers (they offered to throw in some crows feet that I need, lol). Spherical washer, aka leveling washer: McMaster-Carr

    Clunking (not diff)

    I'd check engine mounts first.

    More Suck, Less Starve

We did some testing with the hydramats over the weekend to get a feel for how they worked and if they had any weird issues we need to be aware of. We mostly did this with the mats in a couple large bins, and we just started to test it in the tank. 1) The hydramat pickup will pull air pretty...

    Well its out!

I have a cheap ebay tubular mani swain tech coated and it's lasted several seasons. I think you'll be fine. I'm planning to add some stainless steel heat shields this year in addition to the coating.

    Well its out!

The swain tech coating explodes if water touches it while hot. Leaves little pock marks. I suspect all of the ceramic coatings act similarly, but it's something to consider with the hood vent.

AWD Testing and How it Works

That's where I'm going with this :D We've been out of the MS6 for two years, so in a month or two we will try it out.

AWD Testing and How it Works

Yep, that's right. But honestly, if it's holding 800lbft at half its normal operating voltage, you could probably rely on it to hold something a little more than that. There's a few things going on here and why I'm going down this path (again). We have blown up a few transfer cases at...

AWD Testing and How it Works

Diff coupler is a hot topic, but let's take a look at the system from transfer case to rear diff output first. We know the transfer case is all direct drive through gears. It's important to understand there's a gear ratio in the tcase, and that it's a 1:3 (2.93, actually) ratio of input to...

AWD Testing and How it Works

One of the most nebulous topics for the MS6 since it came out was how the AWD system worked. How it transfers power to the rear wheels, how much it can transfer, and when it transfers are mostly unknown to the masses. Let's try to clear some of that up, and let's do some testing to see how...

    More Suck, Less Starve

I think we have a winner - Walbro GSS342G3 if anyone wants to venture into this. I'll submerge this and test to make sure it doesn't pull air past the O-ring. If the other fittings get here this weekend, I'll plumb it and do some testing.

    More Suck, Less Starve

Alright, so plumbing this should be easy, amiright? Like most things, it's not. Here was my original concept. The Holley ITFP adapter (16-137) should have been the easy button. I would love to keep the ITFP because it simplifies the plumbing. Issues I have right now: 1) The Holley...
