Why We Race | CorkSport Mazda Performance - Blog

Lifting a wheel while cornering at 80mph, while scratching your nuts is a manly feeling. Road courses are slow compared to AX. No time for nut scratching there. @phate

    Let's talk spring rates

Hey Al, I know, I own a set of GC's with "race rate" springs (approx 2.1/2.3 hrtz if I remember correctly). You should really contact GC and see what rates they recommend for your for the different driving styles.

Do you know which spring rates Ground Control is offering you, or are you going with custom rates from the eibach catalog?

For some reason, I've lost the ability to edit posts? Googling, it looks like it might be Xenforo bug of some kind. HALP! For instance, I screwed up some forum tags here...

Public Service Announcement - Re: dampers, coilovers, etc. (particularly, "budget setups")

Not to my knowledge. I warned people about those plates on the other forum. The doesn't surprise me completely. They may use the same internals as the race shocks, but have a longer body. It's silly that they should cost so much more just for a larger machine. Actually, there are fewer shops...

Axle stuck in hub, heat scored?

Ugh. Im my experience, the best thing to do would be to pull the knuckle and shaft to get it pressed out. The heat treating is unlikely a result of your track day, given that you have a gigantic heat sink on the hub (the brake rotor). Also, if you got the shaft hot enough for discoloration...

    General Suspension Forum or where?

I wonder if the cross-cutting threads about suspension could be locked to gear heads, and serve more as an FAQ than anything else. That way, people asking questions about their application would have to choose the 6 or 3 sub forum, but just consulting for general information (not creating a...

I think you missed the section about KW's. Regardless, manufacturers rarely reinvent the wheel when they create an "coilover kit". Internally they the same or extremely similar. I'm sure we'll all hear about it when it comes to fruition. I'm not seeing what you're trying to say here. Your...

[SOLVED] Will there be a 'Gearhead' equivalent?-YES-Motorheads

Can I suggest a conceptual focus on R&D and furthering the platform rather than service to people who can't read? I feel lile the later doesn't require expertise - just patience and a basic understanding. Maybe better suited to the mso general population or a different group than the new...

Public Service Announcement - Re: dampers, coilovers, etc. (particularly, "budget setups")

Okay, I understand that if you call the manufacturer you will get the party line- "no, we can't revalve that". However, I'm here to tell you that this is a response that they aren't interested in revalving the shocks. Coming from the dirtbike world, where nearly everything is serviceable or has...

Public Service Announcement - Re: dampers, coilovers, etc. (particularly, "budget setups")

Not sure where you got this information- they absolutely can be revalved. Also "outside of the optimization window"? Where is this info coming from? There are plenty of folks running 'brand name' coilovers with a variety of springs and rates with good results. I.E. @phate and the majority of...
