600°F isn't terribly hot. That said, it shouldn't hurt to add some ducting, but as Rafal said you want to make sure it's being directed as centrally as possibly to promote even cooling.

Oh yeah, definitely. The ONLY way to accurately measure this stuff is to do it from the wheel centers to the fender lips, perfectly vertically. I had just assumed that's how it was being measured...

I thought I read somewhere that these cars have in-line check valves that are sort of "hidden" within the vacuum line for the brake booster. Perhaps that's why you don't see it... I'm not sure how much that piece of vacumm line costs, but it might be worth swapping in a new one before you go...

In a word - Fun! There is a lot of socializing, fellowship, car talk, sometimes some wrenching (par for the course with a modded Speed ;) ), and track-driving (if you're down). You should come if you can. You won't regret it!
