    Ms3 slave cylinder over extending

How long have you had ACT in your car? From my experience with the brand, I wouldn't leave any suspicion of poor quality off the table. See my experience with ACT here: https://www.mazdaspeeds.org/index.php?threads/act-clutch-kit-review-experience-for-ms3.11016/#post-82144

    Ms3 slave cylinder over extending

I did a transmission and clutch replacement on my buddies IS300 last weekend. Interestingly enough, his clutch pedal had a spring like feeling which messed with his engagement. Eventually, the slave piston popped out and the boot filled with fluid... Towed the car to the garage. SOLUTION: In...

    Low temp when cruising?

Although I have not looked at temps for this platform closely, what you describes sounds about right. Your cooling system radiator is mostly cooled by ram air, the faster air goes through it, the better it exchanges the heat from your coolant to the air. The source of heat is fuel. If you are...

ACT Clutch kit: Review/experience for MS3

Thanks for sympathizing with my concern, im glad you are trouble free with this brand. Interestingly enough, act did not want the old parts back. There is only so much thats worth your time though. Even if i got another kit, i wouldn't feel comfortable installing knowing these problems have...

ACT Clutch kit: Review/experience for MS3

I did it myself, and like I mentioned, there is always opportunity for user error. But this isn't my first rodeo. That being said, check out these review on this set up: https://www.streetunit.com/ACT_Clutch_p/zx5-hdss.htm

    Can’t kick readiness monitors

Just confirming, but you are 100% sure your only mods are intake? Did you buy the car recently? How are you checking for codes? Have you tried resetting the battery terminals to clear ECU data? The only time I have seen an emissions monitor hang in the "not ready" state indefinitely is when I...

    Low Compression

Do you hear anything on cold start from the valve cover? Do a google search to see what people are talking about.

Differences between rims with same measurements

18x8+47 would more than likely be fine. Just make sure you have 114.3 bolt pattern and 67.1mm or larger center bore. Some places may not guarantee fitment unless they know for a fact that it will work. If you have stock calipers, I would be surprised if you could find an aftermarket 18" rim...

CAI with SRI OTS Stage 1 map?

You would likely be fine, but you would need to monitor readings as soon as you install it if you want to guarantee it. If you aren't calibrating your MAF sensor values for your intake, that would be the bigger issue here.

    Rich condition

Seeing as he only has 2 posts from half a year ago, i suspect he has I think the lack of reply on your original post says that you did a thorough job diagnosing it from what we can help. I guess throwing parts at it didn't help either :\ This sounds like an intermittent issue: These are the...

    Low Compression

The engine position is an important factor when checking the chain tension. From what I have read, when the VVT fails, the little cap on the barrel wall of the VVT gear is missing, the VVT actuator has play and a rattling noise is audible on cold start. Personally, I have seen 2 VVTs with the...

ACT Clutch kit: Review/experience for MS3

Even if I was the only one, the experience sharing has to start somewhere. :) If I stumbled into more threads like this one when shopping for my clutch, I would have reconsidered. Also, like I mentioned, I spoke to people in other communities including Mini, Lexus and Honda. Nobody had...

ACT Clutch kit: Review/experience for MS3

Hi all, Not sure if this is the correct area to post, but I wanted to share my experience with ACT (Advanced Clutch Technology) for anyone else shopping for a clutch. I will start with the TL;DR: The only positive note I can share regarding ACT is that they are pleasant to speak to on the...

    Common vacuum leak points?

It was a ticking time bomb. I wouldn't draw any conclusion that because #4 had low compression that it was the one that failed. I bet when you pull it apart, it will be something closer to the area where it broke through the engine, such as rod #1. As to why it happened: could be a number of...

    Common vacuum leak points?

You are correct to be suspicious of other symptoms, but with the information you have provided it is difficult to draw a conclusion. As you have confirmed you have compression in the other 3 cylinders, which tells us your testing process was successful. The following question is why is cylinder...

    Common vacuum leak points?

Something isn't right, with such a low compression in cylinder 4, it should be a pretty rough ride. Maybe boost pressures are sealing past 2500 rpm? See if you can investigate with a leak down test or check your oil quality/coolant. Based on the information you provided there is a leak into the...

    Common vacuum leak points?

You will feel the whole car shake, especially when on the gas. Your engine light should be telling you there is a miss-fire in that cylinder. Wondering if you have an intermittent problem. A possible symptom of low compression is difficulty starting. I wouldn't bother putting the intercooler...

    OCC lines collapsing

Was simply using it to check how much pressure there might be in the crankcase, but i guess thats inconclusive.

    Common vacuum leak points?

Even with a chipped valve, I was getting some compression reading. 0 sounds pretty severe and from what I am seeing it is from the bottom end. You would likely have some pretty unstable shaking from the engine running like this. You may want to diagnose why you have low compression. You can put...

    VTCS delete Idle

For me, it is actually a problem after the engine RPMs settle and the engine is still cold. Throttle response is also quite bad. I can hold the throttle at 25% and it will slowly stumble its way to 3k rpm, after that all hesitation goes away.
