What did you do to your ride today

I ended up going with Pentosin Super Dot 4...it's a little cheaper than ATE Type 200, but still great quality based on reviews. I wanted to have 2 liters on hand in case I needed more. Will probably flush the girlfriends brakes with it too so it doesn't go to waste.

What did you do to your ride today

Put together a power bleeder for my brakes. Went to a local junk yard and grabbed a brake reservoir from a Mazda 3 and went to town and then generally followed the DIY $20 brake bleeder (Mine is closer to $50 USD). Honestly though, this was more effort than it was worth and if I were to do it...

    Intake Manifold/Valve Cleaning Question

Thanks @Awafrican, that gives me a little more confidence with doing the job, haha...i think I tend to overthink these things. This was last done when my car had 78,000 miles on it and I'm at 127,000 now. I did the injector seals and service then. I currently have the CS injector seals in, so...

    Intake Manifold/Valve Cleaning Question

@Xlorn, did you end up just using fine walnut blast media? I've watched the videos on youtube as well and they all seem to start out with B-12 (which I dont think we can get in Canada...I think I'd probably just use carb cleaner?) and THEN blast with walnut media. I'd like to know if just...

Keeping in mind you'll start running out of fueling room on the stock injectors if you're running higher ethanol mixes. Anyone running setups with no aux fueling would likely see no benefit running higher than an e30 mix anyways. I am probably wrong on this point, but good to mention the...

Having gone this route this last summer, you are correct about anything in the e25 to e35 mixture range being safe.

Which downpipe did you end up going with? I should consider doing this with a turbo upgrade while the lockdown up here continues. Edit: nevermind...saw you're going with the Cobb.

    Brake and Clutch Fluid Change

Thanks man! I'll review and check it out...haven't purchased anything just yet.

    This Makes Me Sad

That would be way more trouble than it's worth. It is my daily driver and has served me very well. I would like to keep it as my DD for another 3 or 4 years and then will sell it. I would like to keep it respectable looking during that time though without it becoming a rust bucket.

    This Makes Me Sad

My 2011 Gen 2 is starting to succumb to its age and our harsh, salty ass winters in Canada. Bottom inside of the front passenger door is starting to rust, as well as the rear passenger side wheel arch. In both cases, it appears that the seam sealer has failed in these areas causing the start...

Definitely get the NGKs in the stock heat range...also, buy your plugs locally and not online. There is some suspicion that there may be counterfeits on Amazon and eBay. Avoid the other brand (cant think of the name right now). Don't go one step colder yet.

    Brake and Clutch Fluid Change

Thanks for the recommendations @Awafrican and @Mauro_Penguin. I'm assuming the dealer would charge at least $150 for this service, so it's still worth it to me. Biggest concern is seized bleeder screws...but I'll use the recommendations I got in the ShoutBox.

    Brake and Clutch Fluid Change

That is indeed an expensive tool...but I can use it to do my girlfriends brakes too. It looks like ATE no longer makes the blue brake fluid...how does one know when they've completely flushed the old fluid out of the lines and reservoir? Also, should I buy 2 quarts of brake fluid?

    Brake and Clutch Fluid Change

Thanks guys! I'll check out the bleeder and the fluid recommendation. Hopefully all goes well for me! Also, I love ChrisFix videos...that guy makes incredible content on YouTube.

    Brake and Clutch Fluid Change

Are there any good how-to's for changing the brake fluid and clutch fluid on this site? I'm definitely overdue for this service and have never done this myself on any car before (I usually let a mechanic do it). I'm curious if there is anything I should be aware of like running into seized...

To second @Awafrican, the datalog should typically cover just one pull in either 3rd gear or 4th gear, but not typically back to back like you described. You dont need to go through all of the gears...haha, in addition to the concerns that were laid out in the post above, I'd hate to be on the...

What did you do to your ride today

Changed the oil, added 2 fluid oz of viscosity modifier to the Redline MTL 75w80 in my transmission to quiet the LSD chatter, and replaced a few burnt out bulbs. Next item will be to tackle some of the rust that is just starting to develop on the bottom of the passenger's side door and rear...

Thanks @Awafrican! I was going to dig through my emails from Stratified to get the datalogging parameters they ask for. You're definitely right! It's good to see there's still a strong community here for the Mazdaspeed platform. @Pcktrckt, in addition to the datalogging parameters, I like to...

Welcome to the forum! It's not a popular opinion around here anymore, but I still use Stratified. I've had no customer service complaints about them and they will talk to you over the phone and help you troubleshoot and help you roadmap your modification process. I also find then to be very...
