    Dreaming of 8000 rpm

    So, to my knowledge, 8000 rpm is ungodly high and pretty unheard of in our cars, mainly due to VVT and stroke (feel free to comment if any info is wrong, which it very well could be.). Hell, even 7500 is extreme. Maybe I'm just jealous of engines like a K24 that can go 10k+ or even a SRT4 A588...

    Thanks guys! @Navy_Mech2 Im sticking with Versatune. @blackms3_71 Im trying man! Thankfully the whole situation was a flop.. The timing and everything was completely fine, just a dirty sensor throwing a code for timing, but the real problem was just a hellacious vacuum leak from my intake...

    New update not related to my sig pic, car lost timing last night. Yay. Seems to be electrical and not mechanical, with what I saw I'm hopeful that's correct. Got the car towed off to my guys at Speed Solutions to get her fixed up. Oh, and I got my FoST mani in the mail. Couldn't use it before...

    Long overdue update: Nothing has really changed. I felt like I needed to post something. Car runs good, got a JBR RMM and fixed the pivot shaft seal. Waiting on some money to come in for my tune, as well as my FoST manifold as I wait for my Damond Motorsports PI Manifold adapter kit!

    Update: Successfully took off the turbo, manifold, and downpipe, replaced all gaskets AND rebuilt the turbo, and put it all back together in 8.5 hours today with help from two friends. Believe we found the vacuum leak as well. Good day!

    Thanks for the idea, I'll check it tomorrow. I've narrowed it down to the evap system, all couplers and clamps have been check and replaced, so hopefully I can figure this out.

    Update: It's been 2 months and I'm still throwing a god damn P2187. New gaskets, downpipe fixed, OCC installed, everything clamped as tight as humanly possible, new boost tubes going in tomorrow. Got a K04 rebuild kit coming, side to side shaft play is too uncomfortable, so getting it rebuilt...

    Good news, the code seemed to have just been a fluke. Now trying to solve this damn P2187 :triumph: Boost leak test had air coming out of the intake/crankcase line, fixed that and re-tightened every damn connection I have. Moving on the a PCV replacement, and an EGR delete for shits and giggles.

    VVT done at about 108k miles. So practically brand new. I'm fully bol tr ed with a shitty OTS tune right now, so with a good tune maybe around 300hp/320tq ish. Haven't cleaned intake valves or done a compression test.

    I'm the dungeon master, you didn't know? :wink: as far as turbo choice, I am in a constant circle. My choices have varied from a GTX28 to GTX30 to HTA30 to Corksport to S4 to 5558 to EFR kit. I'm a mess man.

    That makes good sense. On my end of the spectrum, I have a 10 year old motor with 118k on it. Not sure of turbo replacement prior to my ownership, so it's almost a question of which will give first, and which will I save first!
