Best Engine Oil - All Mod Levels

Yep. Not to say the others are bad, just to say that they're not specifically SN Plus. I know a lot of the current SN Plus rated stuff have changed their formulas and may be considerably better now. I'm about to try the Castrol Titanium SN Plus stuff, personally...for science. I'll let you know...

Best Engine Oil - All Mod Levels

I just did a dive into the product data sheets and found that the new Dexos Gen2 Royal Purple is, in fact, SN Plus rated oil. Tribodyn and Brad Penn are both still SN rated, not SN Plus (at least not that I can verify without scouring the entirety of the internet).

Best Engine Oil - All Mod Levels

So, a while back when we were all figuring out the best oils to use in our Speeds, there was no such thing as API SN Plus rated oil. For anyone who has been keeping up with the oil world, API SN (ILSAC GF-5) came out in 2010 and API SP (ILSAC GF-6) oil was announced back in 2012 and was targeted...

    New engine issues

The HPFP is a mechanical pump. If the engine is off, it isn't pressurizing the system because there's nothing mechanical moving. That's why it should read ~60psi -- because that's all the in-tank pump (which is electrical) can supply. It's almost definitely an electrical fault in the sensor...

    Solarsurge's Ongoing 2013 LSM Build

Not that it's really relevant to anything performance related, just an "update" of sorts... The OPT7 LED headlights I installed, along with their 25,473 ft of unnecessary wiring/adapter/harness/etc., were removed today and instead I opted to go with a MUCH cleaner, leaner set of Cougar LED...

    New engine issues

P0193? Sounds like you either have a bad ground on your main harness or your fuel pressure sensor is bad. Edit: I should also mention that a HUGE amount of problems after engine swaps are related to improper grounding. Triple check all your grounds using the wiring diagram for your car. Then...

    Having Some Boost Issues

I don’t see anything glaringly obvious, but I would check one of two places first. If you’re running the stock intake manifold, the hose on the back side of the manifold directly behind the MAP sensor would be my first bet. Also, the taper on the neck of the BNRS4 can sometimes make the coupler...

    Cracking spark plugs

Shiiiit... if it’s vibrations, I would be replacing plugs daily. My car has ALLL the vibes. lol On a side note, my cracked plug was brand new, so if they all seem to be doing it brand new maybe it is, in fact, related to vibrations and some plugs are just vibrating apart while others are strong...

    Cracking spark plugs

I mean, I’m a flawless master mechanic, too. The straps on these plugs are pretty brittle though. I’ve broken one myself and I had the ceramic on another plug crack on me. It was more of an admission of guilt than an attack. My bad plugs were my fault. [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Solarsurge's Ongoing 2013 LSM Build

There’s absolutely no chance my cracked plug was related to being lean. My map is so rich my AFRs dip into the 9s. From my experience, cracked NGKs are usually the result of too much elbow grease putting them in. Also, since the strap is so freakin thick and they never come gapped properly...

    Solarsurge's Ongoing 2013 LSM Build

Just an update. Been super busy, changed jobs and had to give up the company car, so I’m now dailying the Speed3 for a while. She’s still got some work that needs to be done, still not fine tuned, and still running a super rich, conservative toned down map. Other than the vibes from the stiff...

What did you do to your ride today

When I pulled mine, I found out the factory cross threaded my driver side upper subframe bolt. I had to retap the hole to get that sumbitch back in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Question for those who deleted the EGR Valve

More soot in the exhaust, that’s for sure, but I am also big turbo and tuned over 400HP. I have a 26.9 mpg average over 4000 miles, which is more than the factory 25 mpg highway rating bone stock and includes drag pulls, autocross races, street pulls, etc. Fuck EGRs.
