    First, dont do things that cause "popping and backfires" Next, based on your info, look into a boost leak test. If you arent hitting targets, and hear pressurized air releasing you have a considerable boost leak. Dont forget to also check the tightness of the turbo to manifold bolts.

    If you repair it, dont forget the 5 more years of water leaks, creaks and rattles and things not fitting right or popping loose. Unfortunately in the interest of saving lives cars cant take much of a hit anymore. Cars have become appliances, not feats of engineering, lol.
