Numbers 1 - 170psi 2 - 130psi 3 - 120psi 4 - 170psi The engine sat for 4 months but it was covered up apparently. It probably sat outside. It may run. If it does then it’ll just be slow I guess. Or consume a fuckload of oil and smoke. If it’s a piece of shit I guess my season is done. I’ll...

Facebook engine installed. Compression results absolutely worst I’ve ever seen. Might be the end of the car after all. What a pain in my ass.

I would agree for sure. After taking a look at the other bores and seeing the scuff marks on both sides, this definitely suggests piston seizure which is a known concern. The OEM cast pistons run such tight P2W clearances it doesnt take much apparently. Mix in the fatigue/load/duration. I was...

8600rpm is a good bit of engine speed for a failure like this. Much destruction. Plan is to pick up another oem long block. Hopefully Friday/saturday. Get that installed to finish the season while I work on the forged engine on the side. I’ll run last years OEM tune which had 8500rpm rev...

I would say piston failure as well most likely. It makes sense

one thing i will note, the headgasket didnt look OEM. I think this head was removed at some point. Its also a lot cleaner then the shortblock so idk. Headgasket was done at some point in this engines life

temp never passed 95c. I have 10 laps that session, most were slow but when i finally made a few passes i got on it. Temp was still sub 100c(212f). Head gasket looked mint, block deck was mint. The head i didnt look at TOO well yet but it also looked fine

More photos. Maybe the piston just disintegrated? Just came apart? Or some minor piston seizure. Cylinder 2 is the one which failed

Pulled the engine apart. Rod bolt theory is out the window. Of course I wouldn’t have such a simple failure. From my knowledge this looks like a hydrolock failure. Piston is gone. Nothing but small pieces left Head gasket looks fine. block deck surface also looks fine. There is significant...

This would’ve occurred on the exhaust stroke for sure. Nothing to slow the piston but the rod, rod bolts, and wrist pin. We will see. The pistons can also come apart. It’s just fatigue. Shits got higher mileage and I’m sure the previous owners weren’t nice to it. Then I come and raise the...

Ok I broke it good for sure lol. Transmission is OK this time thankfully. I’ll pull this engine apart tomorrow and we’ll see what’s up. I think rod bolt or the rod itself maybe? We’ll see

Well pulled the engine out. Too impatient to wait for assistance so did it myself. I don’t think this is where a valve belongs lol

For the K series there are tons of aftermarket crank options but they’re all still Honda based. Cranks with B series rod journals. All different stroker cranks. im sure a custom crank could be done but for the cost it’s better to just buy the rods. The exchange rate is what really gets me

Heard back from BC. They offered me a stupid deal on a brand new set of rods. Crazy good price so 4 new rods it is. 2 week wait time as they gotta make them but that’s OK. Gives me time to collect funds for machining and buying a cylinder head. Won’t be back up and running for August but mid...

    Building for the road course...again

Well seems my budget rebuild plan is dead. BC couldn’t find a rod heavy enough to match my set. I an SOL. options are either sit the rest of the season out, or grab the cheapest long block off market place and send it. There are some cheap units out there($600-800cad). One for $600 sounds good lol

if i could only fit lol.... there are a few cars im simply not interested in. Miata, BRZ, hyundai N. Theyre all just borning they sound terrible and everyone has one or two of those. Its just not for me. The civics screaming 2liter engine sounds lightyears better than almost anything you can...

Video of the engine failure caught by my friend in his mustang. Failure occurred at 8600rpm. 91c oil temp. 96c water temp. 67psi oil pressure.

I hear ya. They can’t even get a wrist pin right. That’s cost me an engine now as well. Bummer for both of us

Unfortunately that’s how it goes sometimes. It’s part of the game I’ve learned. R&D isn’t easy or cheap. That’s why these companies don’t do it. We have to
