I guess I’ll put this here sense we were talking about alloys too.
Just hit 30,000 miles on my bottom end and got my first piston slappy slappy this morning. 2618’s. Mind you this is a pop n drop so it wasn’t exactly torque plated and properly honed, just used a dingleberry and brush, but they...
edit: so yeah in thinking about this more I think it's likely OP received a bolt for a Duratec 2.5.
That might be what happened, I'll look and see what the torque spec is for the 2.5, I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same or pretty close to ares.
I might have just got a bad one, not the...
Idk man but both were different then what was in the motor to start with and both came from @edgeautosport.
I could feel it yield before it even got to 57 foot pounds, bout shit my pants, I thought it was the threads in the cam.
As far as the @corksport cams I believe they are the same...
Been thinking about posting about this and now that I sit waiting on this hurricane to run over the top of me I have nothing but time.
So last month I had to replace all 16 valves and of course new washers and crank bolt, I went ahead and picked up 2 new OE Mazda cam bolts as well.
So...
Some of most of it but not all maybe just a little but could be a lot depends on if some is not enough then you may need to take a little more then a lot.
It's going back together with some 620 lock tight on the sprockets and crank pulley.
Was thinking about using the old washers on the bolt side of the cams, sanding the one side of the washer smooth so it doesn't affect torque readings.
Puzzling for sure because I've heard of this happening...
Everything was clean, dry and new. Like I said I'll buy the whole "improper install" if it happened in the first few thousand miles but not after almost 3 years and 25 thousand hard miles and countless pulls to 150+ without a hiccup.
Believe me I'd own that shit if it was my fault but this...
Positive, I set #1 TDC checked the crank with the plug and the crank trigger, dead nuts on. Both cams were out, on about 90* the intake was out around 60*
Cam sprocket slip, what causes it?
I know some can be caused by install error, not following the service manual, but what about cars that have gone 10's of thousands of miles then just slip?
This seems to be random and mostly blamed on user error on the other forum.
Here's my issues and...
So I have a question about this, I'm running a stratified tune with the SWAS turned off option they offer, is SWAS totally disabled in my case? I don't feel it kick in on slow sweepers like on/off ramps but I also feather the throttle when I feel wheel spin too, but it will certainly light the...
