Did you check the fuel pump resistor? I've heard of people bypassing it, but if it's unplugged or just bad, your car will start and almost immediately die.
Is the fuel pump resistor plugged in? I forgot to connect mine after one of my engine replacements and it would start and almost immediately die. I still don't know why, but once I connected it, it ran fine.
That was my thinking as well, especially considering the mileage. Need to check compression.
I've never noticed it smoking after idling awhile; I've probably idled 15 to 20 minutes several times. Even over 30 minutes before and no noticeable smoke.
Stock intake? Since you're not tuned, it wouldn't matter; trims should be close to 0. Between +/-10. If you have an aftermarket intake, you need a tune.
For a good log, I guess find a straight, flat road and use 3rd gear, floor it at 3k RPM and pull to redline. Don't floor it under 3k EVER. When I used to log, I used the Hwy 64 bridge across Lake Dardanelle between Russellville and London. No way for cars to pull out in front of me, and good...
They're like $8 on Amazon. I have one, somewhere. But it's such a useful device, and cheap, I'd get one for yourself. You can plug it into any vehicle that's OBD2 compatible.
I'm old af. Another reason I have friends help me wrench on my car: after a couple minutes, my hands get numb, and I...
Well I don't think the mechanic who replaced my water pump did, and he added a couple quarts and told me it was using oil. When I got home I checked it, and it was high.
For now, you can just use a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle, pair it to an Android phone (not sure if Apple has an application like...
I just realized you're tuned with VersaTune. It wouldn't hurt to take a datalog and post it here. Also would be a good idea to have a professional tune. It's definitely going to be running rich. But it shouldn't be so rich it's afterfiring/backfiring. A log will tell us if your O2 sensor is...
Engine is probably fine for now. Let's get the oil consumption issue fixed so we can make it last as long as possible. I'm not sure how, but mine doesn't use (or hasn't used) any oil, and I have 216k miles. I really need to look under there and see if it has a catch can or something. Also, I...
Whale cum! I'm hoping we can start having more meats; again, we used to be much more active. Most of us moved on from the platform, me included; I only recently bought another MS3. I've got about $2k worth of parts ready to install, waiting for a time I can get enough help and coordinate time...
