Many thanks for the feedback! I went ahead and ordered a used L33X-18-881D (vs. my 881H) to try out. If I'm able to get it programmed by the Ford dealership here (no Mazda dealership on Island), great. If not, It was a $64 experiment that didn't work out.

I've found a few US models that are almost the same part number (ex. L33X-18-881C, whereas mine is L33X-18-881H) but I haven't been able to determine how much, if any, difference there is.
Yup, the car was imported from Japan which complicated things further as it only has a 10 digit chassis...
Hi all, does anyone have any info regarding the JDM vs USDM Speed3 ECU? I have a japanese gen 1 with an ECU with a broken pin and is probably fried, so any info would be appreciated
Have you gotten the manifold yet? I'm looking at one as it seems to be a decent choice for my build (I'm looking for a T3) but I was hoping to get some insight from someone who has one.
