I ended up not buying it. Not anything against the car really but the dude was lying about what he did to the car and barely spoke English so I chickened out
Thanks, he may have had to put a new engine in it then from the kid that sold it.
He does not seem like the type to drive them into the dirt given his current profile and other vehicles he has. He said he bought it from a previous mechanic that didn’t do anything with it so who knows if he...
He’s saying the used engine he put in was a gen 2 with 115k on it. What was the engine you put in it ?
What was the odometer reading when you sold it? Comparing how many miles the car has been driven now vs then.
I’ll have him do a compression test in front of me to confirm engine health only...
Here’s the text messages. Do you recall the serial number for the engine replacement I can see if it’s the same number? Did it come with a Cobb access port ? it has one now which which would indicate re tuning if It didn’t come with one when he bought it.
I’m assuming he just bought it and did...
The guy who owns it now and is selling his name is Christian and is Mexican and he barely speak English had to bring a translator. I met him though his friend/my friend that also has a Mazdaspeed and thats how I was told he was selling it.
Now unless he lying which he could be he may have not...
just been comparing and contrasting on websites for Mazdaspeeds for sale around me and most are 2010-2013 gen with 100k-160k miles for between $9k-13k some were stock others look like they had stuff done but no upgrades like I would be getting.
What’s weird is the few and far between Mazdaspeed...
I went to just take a look at it today. He even plans on selling his second gen Mazda all in for the evo 8 now.
VVT was new installed with the engine swap he explained I do not need to worry about a new VVT as he knows they tend to gernade even on the second gen after some miles and that it...
I’m looking into buying another speed 3 why because why not. I’m obsessed and they are fun easy to work on if you have the right tools and I do. Also see it as somewhat an investment as these cars start to dwindle in numbers and become a rarity. I plan on keeping them for years to come.
The guy...
Well I be….. I rotated the maf housing about 10 degrees to the right clockwise to where bars are slightly in a diagonal position not straight up and down and no longer does it bog down when the compressor and fans come on. Seems I had it like this previously until I took of the intake manifold...
Did some test driving with oem oil cap on instead of the cfm breather and did 5 wot pulls back and forth. no codes but the rpms dropping below ideal idle still persist. And I can conclude as the compressor gets hotter sitting in idle and fans running harder the idle drop to 640-650 every now...
Yes they come on 1-2 seconds after the compressor comes on.
As soon as the compressor comes on the rpms hit 780 then the fans kick in and the rpm’s start to drop and sometimes make it go 640 before it tries to bounce back up to 700 almost like it’s fighting whatever is causing the drop of rpm...
P0101 indicates a problem with the Mass or Volume Air Flow ("A") Circuit Range/Performance
Damond tuning. Did my 93 tune with out issues. I’ve asked about he said it could be a connection wiring issue if not a vaccume leak.
My radiator fans do come on every time the compressor comes on with...
2012 Mazdaspeed
Ever since I ported intake manifold( new gasket was used) and did throttle body coolant bypass (reused stock gasket) and added a CFM oil cap breather I keep getting p0101 code intermittently with weird idle fluctuation when ac compressor is on only.
Idle stays at 700 rpm’s no ac...
Just another Damond Motorsports fan that received a compliment and as a proud speed owner thought I’d brag a little since these little turbos have a short life span, usually.
Getting tuned by the best out there for our speeds. Loving the 93 tune. Finishing up on the e30 tune.
To conclude this thread.
I had taken off the intake mani and the valve cover.
Did some porting on the intake because why not it was off again and I did another intake valve cleaning beacuse it looked like it never did get cleaned which it did 500 miles ago. Did some leak down testing nothing...
Understood.
Just did a cold leak down test I know it’s not reality because it’s not warm but just wanted to see how the percentages looked with intake manifold off and being able to hear any leaking.
Cyl 1- 12%
Cyl 2- 6-7%
Cyl 3- 0-1%
Cyl 4- 12-13%
surprisingly Cyl 3 had the lowest...
thanks for the input and reassurance on the oil cap test lol i did not seem to sure of it myself.
I just bought a leak down tester kit so I will be doing that. As for the PCV vent on the valve cover to intake I noticed no oil residue whatsoever in the hose. I even pulled it off while in idle...
