Well the times finally come where it's hard to fit two kids in the speed with two care seats especially rear facing so I decided after many years will my died it's time for to go big.

Boy did I go big, found a 2020 F150 5.0 V8 King Ranch supercrew with a 150k km on it that's been well maintained is clean and only had two glass claims which is very common out here at a price I couldn't say no. will bring it home next weekend still have the speed for now but I've got someone eyeing it for sale sadly.

Plan currently is just to take care of her and drive it hopefully have it for years to come. my 3 year old is the size of a 5 year old so they'll appreciate the space in the second row and at 6'6" I even fit there.

that's not a mercedes.
sure isn't, you're well aware I've been eyeing Mercedes E class wagons and was excited for one however would have had to buy it out of province, so expanded my search to include trucks. Test drove this and made the right out of the dealer in farm country and got it up to speed, immediately knew I wanted it.

I actually walked out of the dealer Friday because the numbers weren't mathing, called him back sat morning they came down on their price and I handed over my card for a deposit.

Definitely not what I thought I was going to buy but it's comfy AF and I'm excited.

You're going to get a lot of utility out of it. Great choice by going v8 over a turbo 6. If you ever tow or haul anything, you will understand. Congrats!!!

there's no way I was getting an ecoboost, we're looking at getting a camper so definitely will help there, even if I drive it back to Ontario via the north shore of lake Superior the elevation change and hills there are real that I don't want to deal with the V6

I mean boost is actually good at higher elevations, keeps your engine more responsive than NA.

HOWEVER it's at the cost of producing so much more heat inside your engine bay during those low speed hauls. No bueno long term...

absolutely boost is better at altitude, it's more of the grade changes that I'm looking at, 600-1800ft msl is the elevation out there.

All the turbo diesels that haul non stop say it's fine

Having towed with both I would only buy a turbo for towing going foward

was simply comparing the two gasoline engines, if I was into a turbo diesel absolutely agree, my daily drive is way to short for one so it's gas for me, ecoboost vs coyote I'll take the coyote all day.

well we're living up to Fix Or Repair Daily already, posted on two Ford truck forums.
having a peculiar issue with the climate control knob. Drivers climate control knob doesn't change temp, passengers does I'm able to get auto temp on driver's knob or dual on pass. the kicker is I can fully control drivers temp via the touch screen. I believe this rules out blend door issues which seems to pop up no matter what I search.

I've tried to reset the system holding power and right seek no change, did factory reset because the dealer ( bought from Ford) didn't do that on sale, and disconnected the battery for 20min no fix.

last software version was from 2019 so it's on WiFi running updates now.

unfortunately I think I'm calling the dealer in the morning hoping they'll take care of some shop time.
Edit: Called they dealer they said they'll fix it no problem, just waiting for the service manager to let me know when they can get me in. I'll update once resolved.

dealership called me back the next morning saying they knew what part and had ordered it would get me in once the part is in. called me back the next week with the part in, would have gotten me in this week but with my schedule I'll go in two weeks. I had posted on Ford trucks forum as well, Ford actually reached out to.me there to ensure the dealer was taken care of me which was impressive.

changed my plugs this weekend 151.6 k km, think they were the ordinal plugs. gaps were visibly wider than the Bosch double iridium I put in there. also did cabin and engine air filters. Left pair is right side of engine (passenger) and front of engine is on left. little damp on the odd thread these engines can use 1qt if oil per 8k miles per fords spec so I'm not surprised to see some there. heck my dip stick is half and I've got 2500 miles to go on the 5k oil change (4k km on 8k km). I won't know true consumption untill I do my own oil change and monitor it from full.
engines idling nicer now.PXL_20250720_144712863.jpg

My brother had the new 5.0 F150 and ended up trading it in for a Tundra because of the non-stop issues with the motor in the first 10k miles.

So how would you compare the acceleration of the big V8 compared to your speed? I know the truck is much heavier. Different torque curves as well.

Now the locals have someone who can tow their speeds when they blow up!
I dont know about that, some are drama tuned, they're on their own...nah I wouldn't leave them hanging but they would get a don't call me next time unless you change tuners.

the 2025? what issues did he have? this 2020 is at 93.8k miles (151k km), seems like it's doing just fine. *fingers crossed*

Truck has 396 HP / 400 TQ at crank (315-325 whp) speed3 was doing 277whp 298 wtq on 91. Truck accelerates very well and can boogy, but it's not touching the speed, truck is 4,913 lbs speed was 3,281 lbs. that 1632lbs makes a difference. not surprising given it's power to weight ratio, also has the 10 speeds trans not 6 with the super 8.8 rear diff

I did see a Whipple supercharger kit which would put me up to 775 horsepower and 685lb-ft of torque at the crank on 93 however thats 9600 USD so not any time soon

climate control knob fixed: got to the dealer today they replaced the entire front bezel as the knob is integrated at no cost to me PN: KL3Z-18842-BDD while irritating at least it is working now.

onto the next frustration power running boards aren't taking grease asked the tech to try grease them while I was there, told me the pins are seized and would need replacing, these running boards were certainly not greased as part of the pre-sale inspection because the grease nipples were corroded and I had to replace them. Honestly with the running boards not maintain the out setting in between ignition cycles I may just delete them, maybe I can find fixed brackets for the step. IF boards went back out when park was selected and fold when driving that'd be perfect.
