After 1290 miles I had the opportunity to perform a checkup on the CX-7.
Over the last 800 miles, I had one P0301 code and several P0300 codes pop up at startup. They were generally 200 miles or so from each other. I cleared them and ran a bottle of the Chevron Techron Complete Fuel System cleaner. None of the codes have repeated but I had a P2187 pop up yesterday. First, I checked the operation of the purge valve and it’s working fine. I checked the air induction system and the only clamp that was tight was on the air cleaner box. The clamp on the turbo was so loose it was just hanging there. At least the clamps on the inter cooler hoses were all tight. I didn’t have time to look for boost leaks with soapy water, maybe tomorrow.
Obviously, the mechanic (me) who installed the plugs paid no attention to details. I pulled the plugs checked the gap, all were out of spec. They were gapped to .30 and reinstalled.
Results,
Plug # 1 .45 / .30 Coil end was wet
Plug #2 .45 / .30 Coil end small amount of oil
Plug #3 .47 / .30 Coil end slight oil film
Plug #4 .48 / .30 Coil end dry
The plugs are all dry and had a whiteish cast on the electrode. There was oil in the two of the plug cavities, do I have a leak? All the valve cover bolts were checked, and they are tight.

Oil in hose from inter cooler to throttle body oil in throttle body.
There was oil between the hose and cooler neck but not in hose or turbo.

I tried to change the oil filter boss and block gasket. I couldn’t get any of the bolts loose by hand. I decided to leave it alone. As I’m laying underneath, I see this mess. Anyone have an idea where the oil is coming from? PVC hose? I don’t think the oil filter boss is leaking, it’s coming from above it.
