ABS activates all of the time, disable?

The ABS on my MS6 has been activating toward the end of braking (10mph and below). It started out very occasionally but now it happens most of the time. Just the front, maybe the front passenger.

Today I cleaned the speed sensors (ABS sensors?) and the tone ring on the CV axle. That didn’t make a difference.

Does this suggest the most likely culprit is a defective speed sensor? They seem to be really expensive.

In the meantime I’d like to disable ABS. I know some people have strong feelings about that, and I think I read that might also disable the speedo. But if someone has a quick and easy way to temporarily disable ABS I’d like to hear.

Anything you do will illuminate the ABS light. If you unplug the possible culprit sensor, the system should shut down. If it still operates you have a wiring problem.

Thanks! I don’t care about the ABS light, and I don’t think ABS needs to be working even for inspection in my state. I’ll try unplugging the passenger side since I think that’s the side which becomes active. Eventually I’ll replace the sensor, I just want short term relief.

Easy check is to meter the sensor side of the plug, should read 1.3-1.7 Kohm. If not sensor could be bad, such as open circuit or no resistance.
