Bad Pivot Seal: symptoms with shifting?

I got my MS3 maybe 7 months ago. I had the trans fluid replaced as it needed it but was also wondering if that might improve the shifting feel. I'm still having an issue that manifest as inconsistent resisting shifting into 2nd (sometimes 3rd). Sometime it shifts into 2nd like butter and other times there is some resistance.

I did see that shifting issues can be a symptom of a bad seal but I wanted to know if anyone else experienced their own bad seal manifesting with shifting issues.

I did: I installed a cork sport short shifter and adjusted the linkage to make sure going into reverse was right.
I experienced this issue with the stock shifter that came with the car before swapping to the CS.

shifting into second especially being notchy is pretty normal on these trans unfortunately especially when cold.

you can try okay with the first linkage more as eb said not just for reverse. as for the pivot shaft seal usually you can see the leak around the boot ontop of the trans

By first linkage, do you mean the one that is adjustable?

Thanks regarding the seal showing signs of a leak as a symptom.

what trans fluid did you put in
