So recently put a gtx2867r turbo on the 12 MS3. Long story short I had a kinked line that caused low boost, after fixing and using an old tune (per tuner) the turbo overboosted and went boom before I could get off the gas (doing a 3rd great log).

Have a friend looking at it but I'm guessing I blew up a piston and the bottom out of the block (saw some metal pieces in the oil pool). Hopefully the turbo is ok but wondering if it's worth getting a stage 1 built motor or moving to another platform? Guessing my core is shot and a stage 1 built motor would run roughly 8-10k. New turbo would be another 2k.

Have a buddy looking to get rid of a G8 GT that is well maintained and pretty well fully bolted (next step is a supercharger). He is giving me a hell of a deal on it (<$20k)but thought I would ask for people's opinions here.

Depends on what you want to do. You should probably at least get a used motor to drop it in and sell if your looking to change platforms now would be the time
 
That's exactly what he said, getting a cx7 motor from a JDM seller, popping it in and selling that will probably be better than trying to sell the roller.

Although IF your chassis in in good condition then selling it as a roller may be the better option, all depends on what the speeds are going for in your area and how much a used motor will cost you.
 
Who would buy a roller? Looking at used JDMs and they are around 2-3k. Chassis is good. Probably worth putting stock parts back on and selling performance parts separately?
 
People that want a project, or had a built engine and their chassis is toast.

Yes if you put a JDM engine in I'd sell it stock and sell performance seperatly especially if you have all your stock parts.
 
Where would I post a roller to see if someone wants it? Thanks for all the help I just have never had this happen before and not sure what to do.
 
If the chassis is clean and low mileage you will get decent money for it. A roller will probably be around 2000$ regardless of condition
