CP-e moving on from Mazdaspeed?

I wasn’t sure which forum to put this in, the 3/6 general section didn’t itself have a general section. Or a section to discuss non MSO vendors.

So, I’ve noticed that CP-e is not an MSO vendor, which has been the case as long as I’ve been here. But I noticed some thinning of selection of Mazdaspeed parts on the CP-e site. Most notable, their intake and exhaust manifolds seem to be discontinued! I’m running a CP-e exhaust manifold myself. Corksport is getting close to being the only game in town, at least for some kinds of products. And getting Corksport products is difficult as they are dealing with supply chain issues, like everyone else. Which perhaps might be related to why CP-e discontinued their manifolds.

Both of the manifolds sucked and once corksport came out with a better design it was game over

The exhaust manifold worked fine just difficult to install

I haven’t heard a whole lot about CP-e’s intake manifold. But there is some MS6 guy on YouTube who claims to have the highest HP MS6, at least at the time of his video, at something like 850 HP. Anyway, he preferred the CP-e intake manifold over the JMF. (The CS wasn’t available at the time of his video.) Just based on that, I figured the CP-e must be pretty good, but, it seems you beg to differ. I have the JMF. I kind of would like the CS, but, not worth the trouble to change. And seemingly won’t be available anytime soon anyway.

In any case, even if you feel the CS are better, still a little disappointing to lose some options. Especially with supply difficulties. Of course our platform is long in the tooth, so it is bound to happen.

My current CP-e products are the exhaust mani, the rear diff mount, and the gaugepod. They stopped making the gaugepod for the MS6 years ago but I still have mine. I used to have a CP-e downpipe when I had a stock turbo. So if they are moving away from the Mazdaspeed, its a sad day. But it is bound to happen.

In all fairness the 3/6 platform is dated. They're going on 20 years old now and the number on the road is getting less every year.

It's always a shame when stuff like that happens. I watched my friend deal with something similar with his 3000GT VR4. 3SX is the only company even making parts for them anymore.

Or try having a Station/Conquest like I did. Literally no one makes parts for those. If there was something made you had to get in a group buy and wait a few months.

Indeed, frankly I’m surprised the Corksport seems to still live primarily off the Speed platform. I know they do support newer Mazda models. But the Speed platform, after all these years seems to still be their bread and butter.

So, yeah, our platform is long in the tooth. But at least we still have a fair amount of support and lots of used parts trading hands. I’ve sold and given away a lot of crap myself.

Cp-e never applied for membership. On the old forum they all but abandoned it. And as I see it, you can be a gym member, but if you don't go often, you don't see results. Same as being active on forums you support and more. There are super active vendors and then there are vendors here who have little to no activity. It's weird.

Many vendors are discontinuing the way many did at the end of the 3rd Gen Protege and speed protege.

Hopefully people keep supporting those developing parts for us actively, and not the trash no name junk on ebay. The more who do that, the quicker our platform ceases to have any solid products.

Well, as you can see from my signature, vendors have got more of my money than I should have spent if I had half a brain. And if my signature had all the crap I bought but no longer have, it would twice as long. I had an ETS TMIC, DNP manifold, a Steedspeed manifold, a CP-e downpipe, and on and on. A lot of the crap that I bought but don’t need I’ve either sold or given away in the for sale forum.

I have had parts from so many companies over 13 years. Some gone or irrelevant now.

Y'all could take all your spare performance parts and make a forum members race car for AutoX or Track days at a yearly forum members meet. Or do a 24 hours Lemons build

I don't think anyone wants to put SURE crap on anything but a scrap bin.

If it's crap then set one up for Lemons racing. 24 hours of complete beater shit boxes trying to survive lol

Can we find a running speed cheap enough

Shame, I liked their exhaust manifold. That said, Corksport's not gonna allow orders / adding of their items until Sept / Oct for the manifolds, so that'll be my next parts to install. I'm pushing 120k on the block / internals, so it's only a matter of time. The fact that overspeed and their cohorts still build long blocks is all the encouragement I need to keep going on this platform for the foreseeable future. My buddy and I are about 2-3 months away from buying a project MX-5, so I figure that'll be my 'true' fun car and this will just be my fun ~360hp daily until I blow it up...then rebuild it.

About discontinued cp-e products... How about Atmosphere Turbo kit? Still installed on my 6. Must be one of the the most unique kits ever made for our cars, and the price... :D

Wow. Had never seen that before, looks like it makes some absurd numbers with the right setup.
