You should buy a new one. You'll have to rebuild the entire thing anyways so you should start off with something new.

If you tried a used one it could be damaged or not work correctly. You would have to get it machined anyways and if there was an issue with the used part then you're back at square one.

How did you mess up the crank?

I don’t mean to contradict L337TurboZ, but when I rebuilt my engine buying a new crank wouldn’t have been financially possible. The donor engine I used for the rebuild had rod knock so I reused the crank out of the previous broken engine—I took it to the machine shop for an assessment before using it.

I’ve seen a couple of used mazdaspeed cranks up for sale in my area. Have you checked FB Marketplace and Craigslist? Just search for ‘mazdaspeed parts’ or something like that.

Jsilva is correct. A used crankshaft can be used but it depends on it's condition. A machinist may or may not say it's ok for use.

I think some people have used a focus crank but I am not 100 percent certain

For a 1000 dollars a crankshaft you could save a grand more to buy a used engine. Search for CX7 engines as they seem to go for a little less than the Speed platform. Aside from the turbocharger itself I am not aware of any differences unless someone here can clarify.

I used the eco boost crank in my engine. You can get them new for around 300 or less. I done the bad at the same time so I had the crank balanced. Do some research and find out if you can run it out of the box if you keep the balance shaft. I think you can by do the research just in case.
