Figured I would do the obligatory first post... Used to be a somewhat active member on that old popular site but stumbled across this site recently and see some familiar names!
Owned my genpu for 8 years, mildly modified. When the bought the car I had lofty goals to get myself into the upper 300's in HP/TQ but kinda became complacent with where my car was.
Well wouldn't you know it last week my turbo started smoking after 72K miles. Did a leakdown test (all good), got under the car and saw a trail of oil spitting out the hot end of the turbo. Ordered a CST4 along with a bigger intake than I currently have, new EBCS, new MAP sensor, new plugs, got myself my base tune from freek. Very excited! Slightly dreading the hard work this weekend of replacing the turbo - mostly getting all these nuts and bolts off after so many miles. But I've read a number of writeups, watched some videos... I've got all the appropriate tools so I'm confident it'll get done.
After all is said and done this weekend I'll have an upgraded turbo along with all the usual bolt ons minus a turbo back exhaust (currently have racepipe only) and an upgraded intercooler. Perhaps the most interesting mod to my car is the CanBusTriple wired into the radio display, along with a custom interface to a grille mounted radar detector - so the output of the detector displays on the radio and all the controls are done through the steering wheel. I made a demo of this before mounting it in the grille here :
