Hi guys and gals!

I'm not new to the Mazdaspeed community, just new to this specific forum. I have a pretty heavily modded 2013 Mazdaspeed 3 that has been sort of an ongoing project for the last 2 years and I will be making some pretty big changes in the near future. I have a company vehicle now, so this isn't a DD anymore, which allows me to have a bit more flexibility and have some more fun with it. My goal is to squeeze every last bit of power I can out of the stock block til it dies, then build a new block and crank it way up.

Current mods:
Cobb AP V3
Corksport HPFP Internals
Corksport 3" Intake/TIP
Custom PnP IM w/VTCS & EGR Delete
Bosch 3 Bar Map Sensor
Cobb 3" SS Turbo Back Exhaust
BNR S4 v2 Turbo
Corksport MZR BPV
Corksport OCC
cp-e Delta Core FMIC/Piping
cp-e xFlex Stage 2 RMM
KW v3 Coilovers
JBR Front & Rear Anti-Sway bars
SPC Rear Camber Arms
Moog End Links
Stoptech Rotors/Pads/Braided SS Lines
Corksport Mid-Chassis Brace
Misc Body Mods/Visual upgrades
More stuff I'm probably just forgetting right now...

Upcoming Mods/Swaps:
JBR Tru-3.5 Wide Path Intake (replacing Corksport 3")
JMF v2 PI Intake Manifold (replacing PnP Stock IM)
Custom Port Injection Setup (aux fueling)
Full Race Turbo Manifold (moar flow)
Cobb XLE BPV (works better with my setup)
Corksport Injector Seals (necessary)
Damond PCV Plate & Stage 3 OCC Setup (crank case pressure)
Whiteline Suspension Bushings/Bump Steer Kit (stability)
Corksport Aluminum Skid Plate (because racecar)
cp-e xFlex PMM & TMM (wheel hop/torque steer)
Aerodynamic mods (stability)
Several other supporting bits and pieces...

I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge, as well as learning from people who have already experienced much of what I'm about to go through.

Thanks!

Jason

Welcome. What Part of Richmond? Pics of your car? There is a group of us that hang out pretty regularly. We also regularly go to car shows and track racing.

North Chesterfield, near the courthouse, but I get around. I'm always down to meet up.

I'll be at Richmond Dragway Friday night for a Test n Tune, then Saturday I am meeting up with another speed3 owner I just met on another forum at Coffee & Cars in the morning, then I'm gonna help him do a turbo back exhaust and OCC install. Weather permitting, that's the plan at least as of now. If you guys want to meet up either day, let me know.

I'll see if I can drop by Friday night. Depending where yall are doing the install on sat I could drop by for a little.

It's the Friday Night Street Fights event, open only to street legal cars. It runs from 5pm to 10pm and costs $12 to watch, $17 to race, $25 for race car test and tune. It's my first time at this drag strip in particular, but according to their web page you get as many passes as time allows for. If you run 13.99 or quicker you will need a helmet to run again.

They repaved it 2 years ago I think. I ran on it once after it was done. It is so much better than it was. When I drag I usually get there about 2 hours after it opens and usually get 3-4 runs. With your mods I hope you run faster than 13.99 lol.

It's set up for track, not drag racing. Plus, my car isn't tuned right now. It's only running spring pressure because I'm sorting out some issues over the next couple of weeks. That's why I need to do some data logging. Also, launching my car is a bit tricky so it can run 12s or it can run 14s. She's temperamental lol.

Yay for Richmond people. The bulk of us live in Chesterfield off of the Courthouse/Huguenot main drag somewhere. Except for one guy in Mechanicsville, but he's special.

It sounds like you'll fit right in with us. We've all touched just about every bolt on these cars and have done just about everything except for build for unusable power...but one of us is working on that too haha. He's just shy of 500 WHP right now. Two of us are fully built. Two are on S4s and two on S3s with two still stuck in K04 land. And we're used to the S4 guys in our group making excuses for being slow, so that works out well too ;) But your car sounds like it's right in line with everything we have done to all of ours.

I'm am curious how the Cobb BPV works better for your setup than the Corksport though. As far as I know the only faster valve is the Synapse SV (which I run). The Cobb is kind of slow and cheap and usually people can't seem to wait to move to something better. I'm genuinely interested in learning how it'll work better, so we'll need to get together for that and talk shop. Most of the stuff happens at my place, but we bounce around every now and then.

I, personally, am not one for drag racing or car shows/meets (plus I'm also working on Saturday or I'd consider Cars and Coffee since the people there don't suck for the most part) but I do go to the track just about every month. I'm trying to get everyone in the group to come to Dominion Raceway for the NASA event in September. Would be sweet if you came and ran and/or hang out. We also do a yearly trip to the Tail of the Dragon, so that should be in the works again for next spring.

^^ 100% on board with that. By the way, the test runs were a success. I was having some rich AFR issues, so I swapped in new spark plugs, did a soft launch on base map running only spring pressure, got a 14.1@104 on the first pass and decided to just granny launch and data log for the rest of the night because I didn't have time to stop off and get a helmet. Haha. So, you guys didn't miss much. AFRs are back in line, though.

I don't remember what time it was, but I saw a Gen2 Speed yesterday in the West End and I was trying to look for your yellow calipers to see if it was you but I couldn't get a good enough look. I remember you mentioning Cars and Coffee so I figured it could've been you if you were hanging out in the West End for a bit. I was in my work truck, not my Speed, so you wouldn't have known it was me unfortunately haha.

Wasn't me. I was bustin knuckles and getting dirty by 10:30am trying to break the nuts loose on my buddy's downpipe for his Genjuan Corksport TBE install. The lower front nut was seized, but we got the stud out. Also, Genjuan exhaust hangers are the devil. But other than that, successful install. haha

I just snagged a second Speed3 at a ridiculously low price and will be pulling the motor for a build and donating the shell to a friend who has a low mileage Genjuan with a rusted frame from salty winter roads in Chicago. This summer is going to be fun! :D

Mine was just rebuilt recently. It felt so good when it started right up. One of our guys has a motor that's been sitting in his shed for about a year now.

Nice! I was able to flip a second one for a nice profit a couple years ago. I think that's the motor that @Youngwonder is talking about actually.

Anyone have a engine hoist? I can get a stand cheap, but I'd rather not spend $180 on a hoist if I don't have to. Also, if anyone wants to donate some clothes (get dirty) and help out, feel free to drop by any time lol

I do have one, but I unfortunately don't loan out any tools anymore. Too many things have come back damaged or missing, so all work with my tools is done in my shop now. I know that doesn't help you at all, but unfortunately too many people have taken advantage of my kindness and has now ruined it for everyone else.

I don't get on here every day anymore, so I don't see posts like I used to. I already have a bunch of work scheduled for this weekend or I would definitely swing by.
