Help identifying this!

Greetings All!

I am disassembling my engine in prep to send to the machine shop and came across this small cylindrical object in the oil pan. My engine has 170k on it and burned a valve. No metal shavings in the pan or oil filter.

Help!

That would be a part of your variable valve timing actuator. VVT sprocket is cooked. Needs replacing. There should be a spring swimming around in the oil pan too.
