Installed a new OEM belt tensioner

Car was making crazy noises when engine was cold...rattling from serpentine belt area. Use stethoscope and seemed to be the belt tensioner with 175k miles on it.

I paid for the very expensive OEM unit part #LF17-15-980E.
I don't trust aftermarket for such a critical part.

The new part # has way more play (range of motion) allowing the belt to come off much more easily. The OEM tensioner had so little range that the belt was still tight even with the tensioner disengaged all the way. You'd have to peel off the belt with force.

Here is a good thread by some awesome dude. OEM is nice but the prices are dumb. All of these worked great for me and I DD'd mine all year round without issues.

I would recommend saving money and just getting the SKP https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=8806740&cc=1434570&pt=11659&jsn=492
