JB Weld Plastic Welder to the rescue (air intake nipple)

So I broke the nipple on the air intake resonator pipe (part # L3K913230). It's the nipple that corresponds to the wastegate control solenoid valve sensor and hose. Kinda important! I broke the sensor end once too...ugh! I always forget about those little hoses.

Maxdaspeed3 and CX-9 resonators are not the same. There is slight difference in mounting points.

Anyway, this JB WELD Plastic Weld seems to have worked. It seems to be sticking well. I hope its holds up under the heat. (SEE BELOW FOR BETTER OPTION USING BRASS BARB)

You need to clean the surfaces with alcohol and the scuff them up with a small file or emory cloth or whatever.

The JB weld didn't adhere to the nipple even with some scuffing of the surface. It popped out too easily and that made me nervous it would come out unexpectedly, so i used a 3/16 brass barb with a threaded base from Amazon. Turned out way better. It's not fragile like the plastic nipple.

Template public:_media_site_embed_amazon not found. Try rebuilding or reinstalling the s9e/MediaSites add-on.

I used 1.25 8mm tap which corresponds to the threads on the brass barb after enlarging the hole in the resonator with a 1/4 drill bit and a little Teflon tape to seal threads better.

Make sure and blow out any plastic shavings from inside the resonator before reinstalling on car.

Here are some pics.

The TIP will need to be replaced. It happens all the time. Like there and on the boost controller.

Upgrade to aftermarket and be done.
