JMF IM V2 + WMI Injection

Hi !

I going through a rebuild for my SPEED3 and I do some research before ordering everything and right now I think the best way to do WMI will be through the IM like JMF offering for is V2 IM ... but which type of nozzle do you think I need for the best cooling option possible ?

From my understanding, if cooling is your goal, having the injection near or just past the TB is the ideal location due to giving the mixture more time to have it's evaporative cooling effect. If extra fueling is your primary goal, tapping into your IM runner near to the head ot using an injection plate that goes between the IM and head like the DM offering is best because more of the methanol makes it into the cylinders (no wall-wetting, etc.).

6. Intake Manifold
This location can be the most complex area to install. Usually requiring that the intake be removed for access. Injecting here is going to yield the largest water/methanol droplets. And with the closer proximity to the combustion chambers is going to provide a larger amount of mixture into the cylinders. Doing this usually requires more fuel from the factory system be removed. This option is best for max cooling.

The water here is being injected in a manner much like port fuel injection and the bigger water molecules being injected have a more direct effect on in cylinder cooling, and altering the flame front of the combustion charge in a way much like a higher octane fuel. To take full advantage of this nozzle location it is suggested that trimming away some of the factory dumped fuel be done. In other words, in order to take advantage of the better properties of water over fuel for cooling and injecting water at this location, you want to remove the dumped fuel and actually REPLACE this with water. This injection point with a pretty sophisticated WI control method allows for the most advantageous use of water injection. The drawback for nozzles located heres is kit/component complexity, install complexity, additional labor, possible machine shop costs, and possible additional parts costs.

There are many influential factors. That info from DO is assuming your WMI goal is cylinder cooling. Is it? Or ar you going for supplemental fueling, too? IM may yield the lowest cylinder temps, but TB location yields the lowest BAT temps, according to several highly respected tuners for our platform. Two different things. Again, it all depends on your goals. What are they?

reliability ... so avoid some destruction of our ring and the overheat coming from turbo engine in the cylinder was sometimes too high and destroy our ring ... so I think WMI from the IM is the best in this case ...
 
The JMF manifold is designed for direct port injection. Methanol nozzles won`t work in PI bungs. Plenty of us run methanol in a throttle body plate with predictable and reliable success, but if you want something more fancy you could have each intake runner tapped for methanol nozzles and run like a 2gph nozze in each, or you could get the Damond Focus ST manifold adapter and run the ST manifold. Their adapter has meth bungs right at the intake port.

In light of this, then running methanol AND water gives you a greater safety barrier because water absorbs more cylinder heat. You can go iwith 50/50 for this. You just have to be careful not to run too big nozzles if you're not running pure methanol. Too much water can quench your flamefront.

Of course, Rob Finkle will tell you to run 100% methanol. Our cars LOVE it. most people start at 50/50 and work up to pure M1, myself included. It's kind of comical, LOL.

I'd do at least a DO5, even with 50/50. A D02 is a miniscule amount. It's barely going to do anything at all, even on only a K04.
You should read up on this. There's a TON of info on it. The key is to decide your specific goal, then go with what's proven to work best for that from that point.

Platform-specific knowledge >>> general knowledge about WMI from DO, CM, Snow, etc.
 
He`s got a build thread going, Red. It`ll be a 500whp build if he does it right. A few folks have chimed in on it.

I looked it over. If he goes PI, his fueling will be addressed. But if he sticks with a GTX2867r, he very likely won't be able to hit 500whp; those max out at ~450whp (FREEK hit like 445whp, and that was with head work and with all the supporting mods). If he wants 500whp, he'll need a bigger turbo. Unless I missed some other key info in that thread (entirely possible, LOL) :D
