If you have upgraded your clutch or are thinking about upgrading your clutch this post is a must read!

Ok so if you have upgraded your clutch it really is a good idea to go check your clutch pedal and make sure that its not cracking. I recommend taking the whole clutch pedal assembly out so you can inspect the whole thing. I just did some major repairs to my MS6 (replace clutch disk, master/slave cylinders etc etc). I built up a good amount of pressure but still couldn't get my car to move. So i decided to poke around on the internet and i found a thread on MSF that was from like 2011 about cracked pedals and decided to go check mine out and well i found not one, not two, but at least 7 different cracks all over the assembly. I'm posting the pics so you guys can check yours and have a few ideas where to check, and why i recommend taking it off because i didn't know i had a major break at the top. This is not only a safety concern but this is also a good thing to check before you end up like i did with hours and weeks of frustration!

In the posting i had found also mentioned that a few stock clutches caused the cracks also so its just a good idea to check anyways. Also if you have heard any odd clicking or popping sounds from inside the car get down there and check!

I'm gonna be welding all the cracks back together and i'm gonna weld bracing to all those areas and other areas i believe is going to crack so i will post up the results once its done! Also i didn't know where to post this so i put in general because its more of a safety thing then a howto, if a mod sticky this that would be cool to because it will help a lot of people out in the long run. I'm posting this in both MS6 and MS3 areas, tho I've only heard of this issue being in MS6's.

Them cracks anit purdy. Ill check mines out tonight or tomorrow.

Mine has cracked twice (both times with an aftermarket ACT clutch). I need to get under there and check again because i believe it may have some stress fractures even after i had it welded up and put some bracing on it. I switched to a southbend clutch because of the stiff ACT clutch but this one isnt much better and will most likely break the pedal again.

Just gonna throw in my $.02 here... dont go wild trying to make the pedal unbreakable because the next thing that will break is the firewall (and that has happened to speed owners) and that is considerably worse of a problem than the clutch pedal breaking.

why isnt there an aftermarket brace for this? but i agree with the above comment. this may be an issue that we as speed owners have to live with...unless youw ant to consider repairing firewall damage after bracing the bejeezus out o fthis

The reason why a upgraded bracket hasn't been made is because we just kinda shrug it off weld it up and leave it alone from what I've noticed and apparently it will take a miracle to get Mazda to do anything about it so yea

Also on another note when I get home from the hanger tonight I'm gonna post up the pics of our repairs, I don't think we are gonna do much more because it feels very solid as it is now.

Only communication I’ve had with them is through facebook. Ramfab Performance. Also makes awesome intakes with hidden maf sensors for a cleaner look.
