Hey guys,

Just coming over, I have a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 sport I picked up late last year from a member. Long story short, I'll be doing a rebuild on it here soon when I get the time and a solid build plan. Bought it for a decent deal considering the issues with it. My background should help, I'm a full-time Diesel Tech, and have done 3 forced induction projects on various cars as well as some motor swaps on my own projects.

I live in Minnesota, and have a lot of other hobbies, head to the lakes a lot with a jet ski, hiking/biking the area, etc. Also own a 2005 Mazdaspeed Miata that gets a lot of attention in my free time.

Looking to set this up as a road course car that can get me to/from the track reliably. Oil control seems to be its downfall currently, as it eats oil in massive quantities under constant load. Not sure why, but looking to solve it on the rebuild. On purchase, the car was noted to have a burned valve in the head, but I suspect a weak cylinder or weak guides as well.

Car is pretty basic BT build:
GTX3076r, EWG with fabricated EWG manifold and screamer pipe, K1 Rods/Wiesco Pistons, PnP head, stock cams/valvetrain, 3" catless DP to 3" cat back w/magnaflow muffler, Shorty 4" intake w/FMIC, JBR 80 duro RMM, JBR TMM/PMM, and a bunch of small stuff.

Still working on what I can work into the build, but I'd really like to get more information on how the Os Giken Diff works in these cars, and I'm also looking at the CP-E Magnum Di pistons, for the increased compression/better crown design. I'd also love to A) get a better muffler and B) get rid of the ridiculous 3x near solid mounts. looking at the Front motor mount option possibly.

I'll get around to build planning in the future, and will definitely be hitting people up here for advice. Trying to balance what I can expect from this car vs replacing it with something more suiting to loftier goals. Have to remind myself it won't necessarily be an M5 on track, afterall.
