Noob VersaTuner free user has questions.

I just downloaded VersaTuner free and an OBDlink SX. I would like to get a little experience with VT Free before I move up to Lite or the full version. I have a stock CX-7 that is a daily driver. I do not have any codes or issues with the car.

How to read and erase codes was self-explanatory. Where do I go from there? Should I start with General Performance preset?

Pretty sure the free version offers nothing but a view of what the software looks like. You might be able to address codes but you can do that with a scanner.

I'm curious about the ots tunes of versatuner. I'm interested but can't find any about them. Read Cobb's ots tunes are garbage but if versatuner has good ones for all basic boltons, I'm interested in buying it.

I think you can download tunes with VT Lite. From their post in this thread;
"VersaTuner Lite includes all of the features and functions of the full VersaTuner with these limitations:

  • Tune Editor is disabled.
  • VersaTuner Lite can only flash tunes created by VersaTune, LLC or an Authorized VersaTuner Pro Tuner."
From the VT website under features and pricing; https://www.versatuner.com/#vehicles
VersaTuner LiteReflash your car without breaking the bank

  • Includes all features of VersaTuner Free
  • Free online tune database
  • Flash published tunes
  • Flash tunes built by our professional tuning partners
  • Enable launch control/no lift shifting*
  • Disable unwanted DTCs
  • Locked to one car
  • Unlimited reflashes
  • Upgrade to full version at any time"

You can make logs from VT Free. I made one today from the General Performance preset. Without any background or experience, I have no clue what I should be looking for or at. The car runs fine but I was trying to see if it's running in within the parameters it should. Maybe someone from Versa Tune could comment.

Ok thanks. I'm highly interested in the lite version for the price. Only problem I have is the amount of online Info for those using versatuner is slim. It seems very few people are using it or if they are, not posting. Even versatuners own forums are dead but I hear their support is great.

With Cobb screwing owners and charging what thru do for their ap, I really hope versatuner gets bigger. I love the fact they came out with a cheaper alternative unlike cobb.

To do a proper log you will want to go WOT at 3200 to 6500 ish . This will show you what you care about. Logging while just slowly cruising around doesn't say much unless you have an actual issue while cruising you are trying to diagnose. Once you get a good log we can go through it a bit.

So, I'm having some issues with limp mode. This is an example of 1/2 key on then start up in limp mode
red-IM PSI
blue-boost psi
green-MAP voltage
purple-wastegate duty
any ideas on what I might be dealing with? Or at least where I should go?

wg_map_bst.png
ign on, no run until 21. No noise in the first since not running. second portion is running at idle.
purple Boost Pressure, red waste gate duty, green map voltage...Don't look at absolute values I have a 3 bar map!
I can only show this as is. CSV file don't exist in Versa. So screen shots or versatune file types
can be exported. The biggest thing to get out of this is....something is really wrong to have that much noise. Bad grounds, battery (dc mains), ground loops
because of engine grounds missing.

LiteBlue Barometric psi, red Intake manifold abs psi, purp map V.
ign on, at 13 start running at 21. This amount of noise is ok. glitch at 19 is a noise spike and ecu will ignore these transients.
Biggest thing to see this the swings in voltage are small relative to scaling.
I hope this helps

Excellent....easy... I'm 63 and hovering mouse over live boxes for descriptions is Dangerous!!!
here is the two files, and a couple of runs, wot pulls. Ignore Lft's my battery is disconnected to deal with a parasitic current draw..... a PIA to troubleshoot down to specific cause.

What exactly is the issue you are having? From your wot pulls everything looks normal besides your boost being 10psi "low" and wgdc being 0 "which means it is doing nothing and you are on spring pressure" the entire pull. All the other things look pretty normal. Also, why did you not make a new thread for this? I would change lb/min to g/s for the mass air flow as well.

Sorry if misunderstood. This wasn't about me. I just responded to thread... About Tyler limp mode, and the odd noise levels recorded with engine off to start.

@JohnnyTightlips I think he was trying to show how it should look

If you look at the first post he gives some trouble shooting tips as to where to look (grounds) to reduce noise and go from there.

Just got lost in the thread.

Thank you.. was hoping I wasn't steering conversation or stepped in something! I will create a new topic for my needs on what to look at for my next new post. Need to adjust scaling. List mods on profile, tell a few lies on my needs.
