The Hypergrams (and phat tires) are what came with the car; my setup that I saved from the last car and threw on for this summer is 17x9 +45 RPF1s with 245/45 tires. 5mm spacer on the front with those. Can snag a pic tomorrow in the light if I remember. Car is pretty lowww too.

Dude that's pretty sick. I'm sure you had to roll the fenders super flat and cut the bumper tabs and such. Did you have to pull the fenders too? That's a bit more than I want to do, mostly cuz I'm still a noob. lol

Oh right, I forgot you were on stock suspension. If you lower it at all you will probably have to do something I would think.
I'm planing on running swift spring which have a pretty minimal drop so I'm not too worried about the fitment now. If you can get away with it a 18x8.75 +33 and running 245/40/18 tires, then I should be fine at 18x8 +35 running 225/40/18 tires.

You will need to roll your fenders even with swift springs. I had those springs on my gen2 haha.

Yeah I figured. Maybe I won't have to roll them super flat but some rolling is definitely in my future.

Nice! That looks pretty sweet plus I'm sure they perform great. If I ever do get into AutoX or track day events, I'd like to have 17x9 RPF1's with some meaty tires just like yours. Thanks for the pics.

I was debating about going with H&R Coilovers or Swift Springs plus Bilstein B8's but ultimately I decided to go with the latter. Mostly because I don't think I would ever use the adjustable options on the coilovers. Plus I could go with the springs first on stock shocks/struts and then add in the Bilstein's later so that I don't spend as much up front.

Also I would probably set the coilovers at the max height anyway since I don't want to go super low which is why most people get coilovers. I'm not sure if the height setting on the H&R's effects shock travel but if does, that's another reason to have them set up higher.

The one thing that does make me want to get coilovers is that I hear from others that they're pretty easy to install yourself. I'd like to do the install myself so that I can learn something plus it would be cool to save money by not paying a shop to do the install for me.
 
I had the B8/Swift combo on my last car and the new one definitely rides better. Front is H&R coils, rear is B8 with some custom spring rate from previous owner. Noticeable improvement in ride quality when I drove the two back to back.
 
I'll be the contrarian and say Bronze 6UL's of the 17x9 variety.

They do look pretty good, especially on a miata. But I'm pretty set on 18 inch wheels for daily use and I don't think they make the 6UL's in 18 inches, or at least I couldn't find any on my quick google search. For a track set up though, that is very interesting.

Update:

So I ended up ordering the Konig Rennform's in 18x8 +45 for $720. They should be here tomorrow.
I also bought some new lugs and hubcentric rings to go with them. I'll also post picture of the wheels once they arrive.

Man they look good and they're definitely lighter than stock genpu wheels, so win win!
Can't wait to get these things mounted and installed. I'll try and get it done this weekend but it might be another week before I can get it done.

If it wasn't for you I probably would of gone with the Motegi MR138's, which are Low Pressure Cast wheels and I believe a bit heavier than the stock genpu wheels.

Well, I couldn't wait so I went ahead and got them mounted this morning before work.

I love them so far, they look great on the car!!

Sorry for the crappy picture, but I was rushing to get to work.
I haven't placed the center caps on yet. I'll do that when I get home.

So the wheels are 18x8 ET45 plus 5mm spacers (so basically 40mm offset) on stock suspension. None of my fenders are currently rolled and so far absolutely no rubbing. Granted I only did some normal commute driving and did't push the car hard, but I did go over some fairly big bumps with no rubbing so at all. Haven't tried a full wheel lock turn yet but I doubt it will rub.
