Random lock help

Hello all! I recently purchased an 07 speed6 as my speed3 decided to drown its sorrows in a 10inch puddle. Anyhow, I was excited learning my car was a gt model with all the fancy buttons and start knob.

Except... I have one smart key(unknown if programmed to the car, I’d guess not since the hidden key isn’t cut), no starter knob, the angry blinking red key light, and I have no idea what is/isn’t functioning as far as the antennae go. As much as I’d love to have this all in working order, I don’t really want to spend oodles of money on the process.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to just program a regular key fob to the system, as everything else has pretty much just been run with a programmed key, and I find that would be much simpler. And cheaper.

I’ve lived the regular life before. I would just prefer a way to lock and unlock doors without just manually using the key to do it. And also not blowing 800 dollars in the process to replace everything under the sun.

Mazda may be able to look up the key to see if it's programed, probably parts desk. should be able to program a normal fob to help you unlock but won't help you start the car. I feel the price tag..got a second key for the wife's car that hurt.
 
Sounds possible. I’m sure it’s got its number hidden somewhere.

Regular key fob would work dandy. It still runs and drives with the programmed key, it’s just a nuisance having to unlock all the doors from the driver door if I want to throw something in the trunk or backseat.

And sorry you had to go through that. Ouch. Haha.
 
Wait what? So you can unlock from the touch button on the drivers door? Hatch should have a button to open there too, so does passenger front door at least on my gen 2, I can reach those buttons with my hand on the rear door handles so never bothered me.... doesn't your programed key have a unlock button?

No no. It takes the physical key insert and counter clockwise turn and hold to open them all. Or the master switch.

But no request buttons work, and none of the buttons on the card work, but it does shine the little red light. Just no reaction/reception.

On another note, if I have my car off and have the driver door open, if I try to lock the car from the switch, it will lock then immediately unlock. So if that gives any indication to anything else I’d love to hear any advice on that. Lol.

Same issue with my ms6. Lemme know if you figure it out. I want the convenience features! Lol
 
I may dig into it more later. For now, I just ordered a viper system so I could have keyless entry for my car and bite the bullet to get it installed. I fear all the sensors have probably blown in my car. Haha. And roughly 300 is better than 600 or so in my opinion. Especially if that trunk sensor is common to fail, since that part is roughly 80 dollars from what I’m finding. I wish you the best though!
 
Keyless fob isn't difficult to program.

I’m not saying it isn’t. But I only have one credit card key, which I’m still unsure if it’s been paired to the car, and that I have no idea what sensor(s) may be bad. Just don’t feel like taking it to a dealership to pay a diagnostic fee for them to tell me it would be a 500 dollar fix that’s liable to break again, considering the bumper sensors exposure.

If I had the capabilities before and lost them, I’d probably do the work to restore it. But since I’ve never had the proximity key capability for this car or any other, an aftermarket fob will work fine for my shoes. But that’s just me.

On a side note, I need to try and reset the battery to see if I can get my door locks to act right. Still don’t understand why I can’t lock my doors from the inside with the driver door open before I get out. It confuses me.

Thanks for the pics and stuff as well Ssinstaller. I’m just not sure that would fix my issue, especially considering my door can’t hold an actual lock function without locking it with the key, manually, outside of the driver door.
 
FWIW, my genpu (2010 tech) does the same thing with trying to lock the doors when a door is open.
 
Odd. I wonder if it’s just a safety thing to prevent locking a key. But that would mean it senses a key somewhere. None of my buttons work. So that seems not accurate. Eh. I appreciate it. Lol.
 
Most modern cars wont let you lock from an interior switch with the drivers door open, so you can lock your keys in it. Except ford, they don't give shit, and will happily let you lock your keys in side.
 
That I can believe. Haha. Believe I’ve had friends that have done that once or twice, but luckily it was at work and we have pop lock kits so they didn’t have to call anyone. Although their paint wasn’t super happy about the scuff marks.

Amidst that though, my car alarm decided to go off six times last night. Tried to figure that out today, and the only thing I can think of is that it may be the trunk latch. I tested all the doors and just opened them one at a time and held the contact switch until the dome light went out. Not sure if that’s a foolproof test, but they all worked. So I can only think it’s either the trunk or engine latch. The trunk latch looks kinda beat to hell though, so I’m assuming that’s the culprit. I’m guessing it’s been too long since the struts have been changed on the trunk so it slams every time it gets shut, which I can’t imagine being to healthy for it.
