Year/Make/Model: 2013 Mazdaspeed 3 Tech
Mileage: 84k
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Concern: Severe oil dilution only 20 miles after fresh oil change its like water, ECU or Wiring issue
DTC's: (please include descriptions) EGR, Rich at idle, I'll go down in the car and get them. But They've been cleared over the years and have had various ones but seemed to fix some.
Modifications: Damond 3.5" Intake, BNR S4, Corksport Intake Manifold, Corksport Large Core FMIC, Turbosmart Kompact, EBCS, Ebay non catted downpipe.
ECU/Tuning Software:Cobb Accessport
Tuner: PD
Is the concern intermittent? No
Can you duplicate the concern? Yes
Recent Repairs: I generally do all my maintainence with our local NATOR thats left. I did have my hard line crack in town and had the auto shop I trust only swap it out for oem. This issue was present before this.
Correction: Where do I begin this 9+ year dumpster fire. I traded my 2013 speed3 for this car only to find out from our group it had a 'fueling' issue and no one told me until the deal was over. I would of passed had I known this nugget. The guy drove up to Huntsville and the NATOR group they replaced the fuel rail. Not sure the thought process on that and TBH don't know if they told me the whole deal, but its been a while and details might be fuzzy. All I was told is he traded it in because he couldn't afford the gas or maintanence at 30k ish but later on was told he had 'fueling' issues. Time goes on and it seemed like I didn't really have issues with it. I finally start putting on my mods from other speed. Get everything on it and it seemed ok and go to try to start tuning it.Had a number of codes for O2, EGR and maybe some others. Started having a smokey K04. Replaced sensors with OEM.Cleared codes the sensor related ones didn't come back. The O2 sensors were probably bad from the oil ruining them since it was pretty much a james bond car. Get a BNR S4 since Bryan is basically in my back yard. I goto start tuning and I'm having issues once I send logs to WIll basically saying fix your shit. Okay cool, we do some more maintanenmce with Valve cleaning, freshly tested and cleaned injectors with seals, new PCV and plate, new OEM coil packs for misfires, both new OEM O2 sensors. Do some more logs still some issues not as bad. Identify my 15+ year old HKS SQVV needs rebuilt but they dont sell a rebuild kit so I bought a Turbosmart Kompact. Dealt with the gasket still leaking some and finally got it sealed off. And now my oil smells like fuel.So we then decide to rebuild the fuel pump because thats what you do when you have oil dilution issues. We redo the injectors and new seals again and find the fuel rail was a little loose. We chalked it up to using my dads 30 year old harbor freight torque wrench because my batteries in my digital one were dead. Still the same issue. WTF. So we swap from my HTP 4" intake to the Damond 3.5" and put in a new OEM MAF as well. Still having issues. So we pull the intake and MAF and the MAF has a piece of MAF air straightener missing. Not sure how that happened but the MAF mating surface is powdered and very tight to get in. More so than any other intake ive owned. I have had 3 of these cars. So I bought another OEM MAF and the MAF harness was a little sketch so I bought the matching toyota MAF harness and cable replaced that this Saturday and still the same thing. I did a cold start to warm up log for WIll and STFT was pegged at -25. I had Will confirm the MAF cal was for the 3.5" just in case since I did change from the 4". Will's response was this. "i'm starting to feel like you may have an ecu failure or something going on with the drivers of the ecu (boost controller issue) ( injector driver could be stuck open)" Compression has always been within range. Boost leak will hold 40+ We have never done a leak down which is on the books for this weekend.
So here I am. Wondering where to go next. I'd love to just tow or ship it to a place who wants to work on it. Even my friends place wont touch it because it's heavily modded.
TLDR:
New OEM MAF twice and new harness connector
New OEM O2 Sensors
New OEM Coil Packs
Cleaned Injectors and seals twice
New Intake
Valve cleaning
Compression within limits and boost leak good till 40ish
Still getting pegged -25 STFT
