Turbo oil restrictor banjo bolt beneficial or not???

I’d obviously like to do as much preventative maintenance on my Speed3 as I possibly can and I was just wondering what the general feeling is on installing the aftermarket Banjo bolt onto our k04 turbos??? Is it at all beneficial or is it a bad idea? I have read that you should only do it if your turbo starts to smoke but I don’t know just wanted to get everybody’s opinion… if this topic has been talked about already please point me into that direction because I was unable to find it.

Stock and just started, yeah. But if looking like it's vaping at a Subaru meet, then too late.

No need to if not smoking.

You could also look into getting better crank case ventilation. Gen 2 moved the port on the intake closer to the turbo to increase vacuum, the corksport intake mimics this location

Banjo Bolt is cheap fix.
Installed one as soon as turbo started smoking at idlle.. also raised idle rpm a bit.
This bandaid lasted a good 70 000 km before the turbo misbehaved badly and started making grinding noises ( my bad)
So yes you can use it for a temporary fix, just get ready to replace / upgrade the turbo sooner rather than later.

The idle rpm is what fixed your issue not the banjo bolt

Smoking turbo.is not a oil pressure issue it's a crankcase pressure issue.
I think the the Banjo bolt helped restrict some oil flow to the turbo, thereby allowing less to get through the turbo seals.

Sorry EB , it was a while ago.. if memory serves me well the bolt only helped a little.
Once the idle speed was raised you could not see any smoke.
It seems that raising the idle speed helps to create a vacuum... up to a point of course.
