Hi guys,

So I bought a Mazda 3 MPS that already had mods, I bought a AP3 because I thought the car was tuned with Cobb AP3 only to recently find out it was tuned with Versatuner.

I'd like to know how do I uninstall the Versatuner so that I can Install the AP3. I do not have the login credentials for the Versatuner that is currently installed on my car.

When I try install the AP3 I get an error message after clicking "install", a picture is attached.

How do I go back to stock?
During the installation process, the original OEM flash image is backed up to your hard drive. When you decide to uninstall VersaTuner, the backed-up original calibration will be written to the ECU, thus returning it to stock.
Or a reflash by a Mazda Dealer if you have no way to get back the ECU back-up data.

I just went through this exact same thing. The previous owner has to go into their account and transfer the license to you from VersaTuner. They will then send the PO a link to forward to you with a new install and activation code for VersaTuner. It will be attached to your VIN and can only be used with it. You then need to buy a USB OBD cable. I bought this one and it worked well.
Template public:_media_site_embed_amazon not found. Try rebuilding or reinstalling the s9e/MediaSites add-on.
Once you have the software activated you just plug in the cable, identify the vehicle and uninstall. Then you can install the AP and load a tune.

Hi,

I've been in conversation with Versatuner for the past couple of days, unfortunately the previous owner declined that the license be transferred to me.

Now I'm stuck in this awkward situation. Yesterday I asked the Versatuner team whether they can help me uninstall the software, I'll update when I get a response. I really hope they can help because I'm kind of in a bind right now.

Previous owner sucks.

Previous owner sucks.
Worst part is that the person holding onto the license is the tuner, the previous owner didn't even know what software was used to tune the car.

Seems like he took the client's money, bought the software under his profile and now he wants me to pay for something that's not his... Funny world we live in.

I've spoken to the person who actually owned the car and commissioned the build, he's totally cool with me getting the license but I guess since the tuner bought it using his own profile it technically belongs to the tuner

He closed his shop this year, so hopefully nobody else will fall victim to his distasteful tactics.

I am based in South Africa by the way.

Is there any legal avenue you can take through the court system to force this jerk to give you the license? Or to force Versatune to unlock it for you if you can obviously prove you own the vehicle. No one should hold your ECU hostage that way.

I hope VersaTune steps up. In VersaTune fine print they say for end user only, any other type of use requires tuner license version. Only cheaper if more than one platform flashed. So even the AssHat can't use for flashing on a different vin.

Well going the legal route would cost more than just buying the software from Versatuner and then uninstalling it but why should I have to jump through hoops when all I want to do is remove the software.

You're correct, my ECU is being kept hostage, I really hope Versatuner will come up with a solution for people in my situation.

I think everyone would agree that it's unreasonable to buy software just to uninstall it.

That would help a lot, I still have hope that Versatuner will assist me, they've been helpful to this point.

I'll update when they give me a response.

[UPDATE]

Versatuner are such legends, they sent me a download link to get some software which will read info on the ECU so that I can uninstall Versatuner and thus return my car to stock and unlock the ECU.

Now only problem is I have to get the cable and shipping to South Africa takes a while, but a win all round either way .

I can't seem to find the OBD Link SX cable on Amazon anymore, either that or they don't ship to South Africa anymore.

I will update as progress is made.

I had no doubt they would come through.

It appears that cable is no longer available on Amazon. It is available on eBay for $43 USD. It would cost $62.30 from the US to South Africa.

If this is cheaper than you can get any other cable let me know and I can handle getting you one and shipping it if you cover the cost.

Thankfully my tuner has the cable so that's a big save just need to set up a meeting now.
