VVT Replacement Necessary?

VVT has never been done, but I thought the high pitch squeaking I've been hearing at cold startup was the timing chain (although it doesn't sound like a rattle). I've started road racing the car so I figured I should get this done before the season starts.

As you can see in the photos, everything is super clean and there is a very slight mark from the chain on the valve cover, which looks to be a one time contact (see photo). The chain is very tight at TDC. Is it absolutely necessary to replace the VVT components as a precaution? I'd do it anyway if time wasn't an issue since I already have the components, but to me everything seems to be in pretty good shape. Thoughts?

Just replaced my VVT, and associated parts on timing. 08 Speed 3 Completely stock. 84k bought new, Redline Synthetic since break-in, 5k oil change intervals. I replaced because it needs to be done. Not because of any issues except miles. If you spend any time searching this forum knowledge base. One thing that will stand out... VVT fails, just when? Who can say but that it needs to be done. Just my thoughts.

So in theory, if we could've replaced the actuator with the updated revision before the chain began to stretch, we wouldn't have to replace all the other components?

Edit for clarity: I'm going to replace all components even though they're in good shape visually, it's just curiosity at this point.
