So I got a CEL for P2187 and I cleared it twice and on the third time, P0012 popped up as well. The p2187 would pop up after 50 or so miles after clearing but the P0012 is new, just saw it today. Are these two related? Could it be that my chain is bad and something wrong with vvt? Solenoid? I bought a new purge valve but didnt install yet because of P0012. It drives perfectly fine with these codes! Any help is appreciated!

DTC P2187 is set for Fuel Trim Lean at Idle. Meaning you have an air leak somewhere and the engine is taking more air that what was measured by the mass air flow sensor. Check for vacuum leaks. If the purge solenoid has failed try blocking off the purge solenoid line coming off the intake manifold to the solenoid and watch your short term fuel trim numbers. They should immediately try to correct and go negative if that solenoid was the problem.

Oh, I see. I'll give it a shot and see what happens! Do you know what p0012 could be about?

As said, P0012 by simple search is Cam Position Timing A.....
VVT, Cam Chain Loose, plugged oil galley to VVT solenoid. Cam position sensor is on the right end of Intake Cam. VVT solenoid on left end of same Cam. A oil pressure filter basket inside under a cam shaft bearing saddle to supply pressure to VVT Solenoid if plugged.
Check web on loose chain for Speeds tons; to read and look at. I would open oil filler stick finger inside grab that chain, it should be tight and no play. Now remember that if a piston is approaching compression and chain is loose, or a valve spring has just pasted a lobe tip...Try
a rotating engine a few times hopefully a average will appear. On mine with bad chains / guides / VVT this was loose I could push chain into touching cam cover. After replacing everything, no looseness AT ALL.

Your biggest problem is why are you getting a oil warning. You need look around more on site or searching because that is a bigger problem than just P0012.

Yeah... I believe it's the chain cause I read somewhere that they had oil flicker and it turned out to be the chain. I've been driving like this for 5 months... it's on my top priority list to get fixed!

    Hi

Could you please post the link to where you saw that the oil flicker is caused by the chain, I occasionally have that oil light flickering.
