I don’t think I found the issue, and honestly I’m not sure if it still does it and I’ve just gotten used to it! :) I think I decided it wasn’t a big deal.
I actually just gave away a spare one. If you’re interested, I can ask the person I gave it to and see if they’re willing to part with it. I’m in the US but shipping wouldn’t be excessive. Message me if interested.
And yeah, you need to use a wrench as counter pressure, as phate said.
I forget where I got mine but I think it’s the Massive kit on Corksport. At least it looks exactly the same. If you were local I’d just let you borrow mine.
I saw some specifically for the mazdaspeed on eBay for less than £40 (search for Massive Cam Timing Chain Alignment Tools MZR 2.3 Turbo...
I’ve done it multiple times and I’ve seen/read others do it. You just need to make sure your impact has enough power to get the full angle. I recommend the Harbor Freight Corded Bauer simply because I can verify that it does work (literally just enough…) and it’s relatively cheap.
It’s worth taking off the valve cover and having a look at the cams at least. I probably have a photo of them in correct time to visually compare to.
If they’re out of time, I’m not sure if it’s possible to adjust the cam position with the cover on. There’s enough room to get the exhaust cam...
Is there a way to detect if a custom tune is already present? Also, does anyone try and tune for a VTCS delete?
I’m just trying to troubleshoot and as a long shot wondered if a previous owner had a custom tune that was never removed.
Ok thanks. I was having an issue where the ABS would activate at very slow speeds and low pedal pressure. I initially disconnected one of the speed sensors but I decided to pull the ABS fuse. Prior to that, using the enhanced diagnostics on ODB Fusion I could see that all of the speed sensors...
I had pulled the fuse for ABS and that disabled multiple things. Is it possible to disable only ABS and keep things like traction control still operating?
I’ve asked several related questions over the last 1.5 years but hopefully I’m narrowing this down and I wanted to ask another question:
What is a potential reason(s) why the Speed engine would misfire considerably more when cold? And would it being one cylinder vs. multiple cylinders matter in...
That’s crazy you had that much trouble with a Speed3. I thought the main issue was because of the axle on the Speed6 and the press fit bearing and hub which are separate pieces on the 6.
For anyone wanting to replace a rear hub and bearing … it sucked :)
Getting the hub off was insane. It took about 80 min using a mix of a hub puller with a multi-hundred lbs impact, penetrating oil, and a mini sledgehammer. Easily the most physically taxing job I’ve ever done on a car.
And...
I had ordered a Dorman rear wheel hub for my MS6 and it wasn’t the right part. I’ve seen that part # on several websites as compatible so I didn’t think too much of it.
It doesn’t have the splines for the CV axle.
So I looked around and saw many hubs claiming to be compatible but the images...
